Unlike the others
those huddled in the boat
afraid, frozen by the winds
the waves, crashing on the
sides
fearing for their lives.
Peter went when the Master
called him
walking on the water toward his
brother
but fear grabbed him
when the winds would wail,
crying for the Master’s hand.
Trying to be faithful,
certain,
to heed the Shepherd’s voice
calling,
A prelude for his work, his
mission,
once the Spirit descended on
Pentecost
once the Spirit fell upon
him in grace.
Leaving the nets by the
shore
following the Savior’s leading;
Leaving the boat for the
water’s skin
his faith enough to stand
upon the living water.
We are called to follow in
Peter footsteps
the Rock upon the waves;
We are called to go, to
stand
to serve our fellow man
in the ways revealed by God.
Each of us has a part
in the Master’s plan
a gift to do the work;
We are to follow our Savior’s
way
to pick up our cross and
walk.
