with shape and dimension

with shape and dimension
the air a living presence
invisible yet with mass
form and density

heavy in breathing
in any exertion
the air this Sunday morning
with life and gravity

Air given substance

Air given substance
mass, dimensions
as if we could cut it
and serve it on a plate

Now suddenly summer
hot, humidity
burning off the morning
a coolness of spring
weight in the air

Yet the sounds, the motion
waking of new morning
tamped down, slowed
as if by heavy, sticky air

Web of the morning
lowered to the ground
though an invisible blanket
our world ensnared, wrapped
in the waves of the heat

Air given substance
form, function
as if it was a bed of kelp
in the tidal waters

Sticky Air – v3

Now suddenly summer
hot, humidity
burning off the morning
a coolness of spring
weight in the air

Yet the sounds, the motion
waking of new morning
tamped down, slowed
as if by heavy, sticky air

The web of the morning clouds
lowered to the ground
though an invisible blanket
our world ensnared, wrapped
in the waves of the heat
