Now suddenly summer
not yet hot, humidity
burning off the morning
a coolness of spring
but weight in the air
complete saturation
Yet the sounds, the motion
the waking of new morning
tamped down, slowed
as if by heavy, sticky air
The web of the morning clouds
lowered from the heavens
falling from the skies
as though an invisible blanket falling
our world ensnared, wrapped,
in the waves of the heat
