False Prophets #poetry #God #Christ #Spirit #love #grace #Matthew23 #hypocrisy #blindness #falseprophets #Matthew25 #sheep #goats

Fallen angels,
false prophets,
brought to
a place of power...

sowing dissension,
a loss of comity
to this land...

May you expose
the fallen, hypocrites,
the ones taking us
from God’s love...

tear off the masks,
the veils upon them,
that we would be saved...

Speak Your call upon our hearts -
Let Your Yes be Yes...
May we each hear Your purpose clearly
Let Your No be No...

May there be no question
If the door is open,
If the door is closed,
Let Your Will
be our will, oh Lord...

Amen.

We pray to bring about
God’s will on earth
For us to follow
God’s calling in life...

God’s will holding
All of our days
Nothing is outside
God’s sovereign will...

We pray but we forget
That God is in control
God knowing everything
Outside of time...

God is already working
His perfect will...
God is sovereign
Over all our days...

We are all George Bailey – v4 #poetry #God #Christ #Spirit #love #grace #faith #prayer #Proverbs15 #wisdom #depression #fear #blessing #abundance #wonderfullife #angels #GeorgeBailey #meaning #calling #purpose

We are looking at our feet, our struggles,
scarcity, not abundance, the truth...
We don’t see our blessings, our gifts;
We fear the unknown, the future,
we stay stuck in our paths...

At one time or another, in trials,
we are each chased by our demons;
We are caught in a moment of weakness,
when we question our purpose, our worth,
what we have enough, that we are good enough...

We are all George Bailey, struggling, striving,
wanting more, not seeing the truth...
We sometimes even climb the bridge;
We lose sight of our calling, our blessings,
of having enough, of our own wonderful life....

words of gravitas, of mettle,
words not spoken lightly
words of wisdom
spoken in the light...

words of weight, importance,
words spoken clearly
words of faith
hope in this night...

words of mettle, of wisdom,
the honesty of the speaker
words of confidence
words of might...

we can trust fully
these words of power,
words spoken into this moment
words to guide to the right...

intemperate, unwise,
filled with emotion,
words of the fool serving
the purposes of evil...

life is harder living in scarcity
when they live in abundance,
seeking wise counsel
from the council of fools...

burdened by ego,
pride blinding them fully,
the words of the fool
leading to abject destruction...

lost in a false reality,
not listening to reproof,
too sure of themselves
to hear a word...

#evil sprang forth #poetry #God #Christ #Spirit #sin #confession #humility #pride #selfish #control #Devil #Satan #time

before creation, chaos,
in the heavenly realm
outside of time, creation,
a battle in Satan’s spirit...
evil sprang forth
from nothingness...

over the firmament,
the Spirit guarding,
watching over creation...
the Devil and his minions
cast down from heaven
stalking the earthly realm...

from nothing in heaven created
a spark of evil kindled
in the mind of the Devil, Lucifer,
before the battle raged
in the cataclysm kindled
the war of Good and Evil
spirits, demons, cast out
leaving the heavenly realm...

spirits, fallen angels,
the Red Dragon Prowling
knowing the prophecy coming
the son of the virgin
the Holy One anointed
the child, the Promise,
who would vanquish evil
the demons screaming
cast in the fiery pit...

Out in the woods – v6 #wind #nature #forest #cold #love #grace #faith #God #hope #comfort #poetry #woods #spring #ladyslipper #flower

A space in the dark untrammeled woods
Off the path untraveled, forgotten...
Alone, silent in the sparse glade, the forest,
Under the watch of maples and birch only
a bed of lady slippers, clustered like a twin-bed...
Lit with filtered spring light...

Planted for me to find
By myself, with my thoughts only;
Discoverer, tromping through the mud of the season
gathered on my thick-soled boots...
near the lost stone wall, a rusted wagon wheel
and a forgotten bale of barbed wire...

Nestled, planted, by the lean-to we built
to get away for awhile
just up the way from our homes...
Where I stayed overnight;
Exploring the hill,
the bank below the rocks....

I could find it still, I believe...
I am sure; I’ve shown others
years apart in time. . .
Because magic can be held
and finding it means you can again
out there in those woods...

#Help me to #walk – v2 #poetry #God #Christ #Spirit #love #grace #faith #pray #prayer #fear #confession #secrets #trust #believe #forgive #forgiveness #change #powerless #admit #Psalm56

Help me to walk
in the light of life...
Help me not to fear;
Help me to trust
in You alone, Lord,
for You are my God...

Help me to walk
in safety, assurance...
Help me to walk
in Your love, oh Lord...
For alone I am lost
wandering in the world...

Help me to cast out
all my fears...
though my enemy
surrounds me...
His claws grip me...
but in You, in You, Lord,
I am safe from harm...

A radical transformation #poetry #God #Christ #Spirit #love #grace #faith #pray #prayer #fear #confession #secrets #trust #believe #forgive #forgiveness #change #powerless #admit #Psalm56 #transformation #MiracleHillMinistries #Overcomers

Bearing a new identity

a new name in Christ,

in our risen Savior...

Slowly becoming a new man,

taking the name of a disciple,

hearing His Master’s call...

A radical transformation

submitting his old self

conforming his steps

the same wry smile but different,

God’s spark in his heart...

God changed his name

like Abram becoming Abraham,

or more, like Jacob becoming Israel,

for he wrestled with God...

An enemy now a friend,

a child of the living God...

I #remember his #eyes #poetry #God #Christ #Spirit #sin #confession #repentance

you each kindled my memory,
raw, visceral, real,
through authentic witness...
You convicted my spirit
to reflect on my sin...

we must learn to forget
that which You have forgiven
but to remember these moments
to be transparent in testimony...

I remember his eyes
I cannot escape them
they cut right through me –
the pain I caused –
The sin I had done...

you all spoke words that triggered
that ancient memory, that scar,
the moment I hit rock bottom -
The day I believed...

You welcomed this prodigal
after twenty-five years of running...
crying in the back pew...
knowing finally the damage I caused
the lies I told myself...

Only You are #wise #poetry #God #Christ #Spirit #love #grace #faith #pray #prayer #Proverbs2 #Proverbs3 #wisdom

Only You are wise, Lord,
I confess my failure,
listening to my own counsel
quarrying my own wisdom
as if knowledge itself is life,
walking apart from You...

I confess that I am broken,
that I am an empty vessel...
Wisdom has but one reservoir
only one fount for an abundant life...
Wisdom is imparted by Your hand, O God,
in You alone is my reward...

You alone are wise, Father...
I am a fool to think I am...
I am but a cracked vessel...
I must not seek my own wisdom,
but I must trust in You alone, Lord,
for You are my salvation and strength...

I need You, Lord, each moment
trusting You only
for life is in the journey
with Your Holy Spirit guide my steps...
I have life in You only;
in You is my reward...
