you each kindled my memory,
raw, visceral, real,
through authentic witness...
You convicted my spirit
to reflect on my sin...
 
we must learn to forget
that which You have forgiven
but to remember these moments
to be transparent in testimony...
 
I remember his eyes
I cannot escape them
they cut right through me –
the pain I caused  –
The sin I had done...
 
you all spoke words that triggered
that ancient memory, that scar,
the moment I hit rock bottom -
The day I believed...
 
You welcomed this prodigal
after twenty-five years of running...
crying in the back pew...
knowing finally the damage I caused
the lies I told myself...
