pelted by sand - v2

Below the cliffs at Gay Head
the meeting clay
pelted by sand
buffeted by the
wind off the ocean
the lea of the hurricane
now out to sea.

Surveying the shoreline
after a night of disquiet
restless, hardly sleeping,
wind above us raging
freight trains rumbling
refueling, restarting,
no end in sight.

a blizzard of needles

watching the snow
out our side window
a blizzard of needles
tiny little daggers
whizzing on by
as we drive homeward
down the highway
up here in Maine
so like the sandstorm
that attack me mercilessly
the sand the needles
that ate my flesh

The Wind off the Ocean – v2

The wind off the ocean
after the hurricane, the maelstrom,
Like pumice in the air
like glass shard
sand eating my flesh.

Turning away,
from the sting of the missiles
like tiny daggers
the fine particles
pushed by the wind.

Like dry sand blowing – v3

like dry sand blowing
in wisps and whirls
over the wet beach sand
after the recent hurricane
by a hidden force

the first of the snow flurries
pushed across the parking lot
by an invisible hand
in swirls and eddies
by a hidden force

in fractals and feathers
pushed across the parking lot
as if pushed, guided,
by the Spirit moving
by a hidden force
