She sat with Jesus,
her beloved,
held within her
loving arms,
the crucified
body of Christ
our Messiah, Mary’s
baby boy.
Her gaze given a
new focus,
ensnared in
strings of gossamer,
obscuring the
body of Christ
in the words of
the spider.
Speaking in lines
that she drew,
painted on the
face of the Madonna;
Her visage of
sadness set off,
in the meshed
strings of gossamer.
