Too much of our lives
in the ways of the world
thinking only of self
of succeeding in their
eyes
in measuring up to our
neighbors
not to the Christ
We are called to die
to die and rise again
a phoenix out of the ashes
of self
rising into God’s light
into the arms of our loving
God
into the body of Christ
