After the bunting has been
taken down
the trash swept up after the
parades
the reality of our day and
age
settling in on our spirits,
light rising,
remembering Christ, what is
important…
Our freedoms which we values
life and liberty
seeking our own path
our own happiness
what we want to be
Bound to our nation
believing our common creed
but failing to be mindful
that Christ gave us freedom
that Christ made us free
More important than all
others
what He did for us,
selfless,
paying a horrible cost;
not just in going to the
cross
but descending to this earth
at all
Emptied of His divinity
though He knew
the price He would have to
pay
to give us true liberty
to free us from sin and
death.
