Abide in God’s Spirit,
God’s breath within…

God’s timing is perfect,
His path is straight…
 
Lean on God’s promise,
to always be with you;
Cleave to the Lord,
walking where He leads you…

Moments held like gossamer – v3

Life moving, inertia, momentum,
moments held like gossamer,
gently, treasure,
lest they evaporate…
 
Time fleeting, quickly,
moments, seconds,
soon to disappear…
 
Sudden, profound, changes,
profound, deep meaning,
life moving quickly, awakening,
changing in an instant…
 
Or moving like a glacier,
stuck in the mud, changing,
in the time scale of mosses…
 
Moments held like gossamer,
precious jewels, crystals,
like dry ice gently,
nestled in our hands, our hearts…
 
Opening just as quickly,
released to the ether,
a breath, never the same…

The Lord is my Shepherd – v2 #Psalm23

I proclaim this blessing, this promise,
The provision of the One true God,
I have nothing to fear,
For the Lord is my Shepherd,
I have all that I need…
 
The Lord gifts me paradise,
The earth and all its wonders,
Life by the still waters,
Walking right beside me,
Peace within my storms…
 
Even though there is darkness,
The Devil and his minions stalking,
Though death waits for us in this life,
I am secure under Your protection,
Within the safety of Your wings…
 
You prepare a wedding feast,
A heavenly banquet, life
In all its abundance for me,
Mocking my attackers, Satan,
All who would do me harm…
 
Oh, how You bless me, how You wash me,
Cleanse with Christ’s blood, with oil,
Soothing my troubled spirit, mercy,
Grace more than I deserve,
Your unmerited favor, oh Lord…
 
Your Mercy, Your Goodness,
Walk with me, stalk me, pursue me,
Strive after me in this life,
Wooing me back to You, oh Lord,
Back to my home, this prodigal,
For You are my Creator, my Savior, my God…

Dancing in my head – v2

Laughing, backing down our driveway,
the snowstorm abating,
NPR on the radio, talking,
Shanequa snapping gum beside me
causing me to smile…
 
She said her things were dancing in her head,
I had two she had three, our shopping list,
she had the things for Taco Night,
I had the things for mom…
 
Tomatoes, shredded cheese,
sour cream. all that we still needed,
for the Taco Night dinner,
filled with anticipation…
 
I laughed and asked if the ingredients
were dancing to a mariachi band,
She paused for a minute, thoughtfully,
and said, yes, they were…
 
Soon there would be a whirl of motion
in our kitchen, our “Kitchen Stadium!”…
Mom making the dinner,
with sous chefs swarming…

their identity as a people,
the things that sing aloud,
this is who they are, this is Ukraine…
 
Yellow flowers in the fields,
an azure blue sky overhead,
the love of their country,
written in intricate lines…
 
They wear their embroided Vyshyvanka,
they share Pysanky eggs for Easter,
on either side of the Dnipro,
on the mainland, in Crimean,

The awful cost of terror,
Their sons sent into the meat grinder,
So much senseless slaughter?
 
Знают ли мамы в России,
Ужасная цена террора,
Их сыновья отправили в мясорубку,
Столько бессмысленной бойни?

Are they aware of the carnage,
How many sons have died in vain,
For no territory, no glory?
 
Знают ли мамы в России,
Знают ли они о резня,
Сколько сыновей погибло напрасно,

I release my treasure – v4

I let go of what I treasure,
for change is now upon me,
I open my eyes to this present,
to the new path beneath my feet…
 
I release my treasure,
my sorrow, my worry, my fear,
that which I have held onto,
what I do not let go…
 
I let go of what I treasure,
that which I strive after,
I release my pain, my anguish,
all that gets in the way…
 
I release my treasure,
because everything changes,
we only have today, this day,
this moment, this life…
 
I let go of what I treasure,
the things that bind me,
life is in living, striving,
starting again, right now…

When the die is cast,
dominoes set in motion,
boulders rolling downhill,
gaining momentum,
Hobson’s choices,
nowhere to turn,
so much to lose…
 
Having to act,
ambivalent, decisive,
forced to choose one side,
one over the other,
Hobson’s choices,
