When the die is cast,
dominoes set in motion,
the boulder rolling downhill,
Hobson’s choices,
nowhere to turn,
so much to lose…
 
Having to act,
ambivalent, decisive,
forced to choose one side,
over the other,
unfortunate reality,
so much to lose…

When the die is cast
 
I share a concern about the hegemony of the military industrial complex that such divergent voices as President Eisenhower and Allen Ginsberg warned about.
The statements about how the aid package really benefits American military contractors and generates American jobs in not about the war.
One of the things I see is what do you do once the die is cast so to speak?
- We already signed the Budapest Memorandum.
- Russia annexed Crimea in 2014.
- Russia invaded in 2022.
- Ukraine asked for our help.
- Russia's full-scale invasion (along with the question then about what Belarus might do) did seem like a true existential threat.
- The way of war for Russia with both the meat grinder approach and terror also plays into this.
- The clear statements that trading land for peace was not on the table.
- The statements by Putin and others in Russia, such as Medvedev and other propogandists about imperial goals and the threat to NATO countries, etc.
