kneeling before Jesus – v4

Jairus, a father first,
the synagogue leader,
risking his reputation
faith more than fear

kneeling before Jesus
calling him to heal her
to come to his daughter
dying in her bed

risking his reputation
his position, his standing
but kneeling before Jesus
to heal his daughter’s illness

courageous submission
love over position
faith more than fear
coming to Jesus
his plea did He hear

Like Roots Around Good Soil – v2

Hold onto Christ
like roots, like fingers,
anchored deeply
in our bodies, in our lives
holding on tightly
around good soil

so we must be
living in Christ
thankful for his presence
for his amazing grace

letting us, while yet human
to see God face to face
coming to live among us
descending in grace
to show us God
to show us Love

to love you and to love one another – v2

Your commands so simple
so clear, oh Lord
to love You, for You are God,
and to love, to truly love,
one another as You do
to love as Christ did
humble before You, Lord
to sacrifice for our neighbors
that they may be restored

we bind the unlimited – v2

we bind the unlimited
the infinite, God,
setting boundaries, parameters
as if we can measure
the extent of Your power

we make You human
because we are in Your image
but that is just a small way
for us to understand You

You, oh God, almighty, unending
no boundaries, no limits
boundless, eternal
the extent of Your power.

At church, we are doing a study on the Ability of God
and the extent of His power. We started with the request
of the double portion from Elisha's story. It has been amazing
We have learnt how to boldly ask God, make daring prayers, etc.”

Gloves of the Spirit – v5

Bags, vessels, empty
vessels for Christ
for His love
our bodies, our lives
may they be gloves of his Spirit

Living with him
yoked to our Savior
indwelling within us
walking in the Spirit’s guidance
the provision of God

Freed from the law, our burden
the shackles of sin, our past
freed to follow, to choose
guided by God, the Spirit
our lives are in Him

Going forward
emptied of our past
vessels of Christ
filled with the Spirit
our lives but the gloves.

Loving the Undesirable – v2

Seeing with God’s eyes
the worth of all
of each person
Loving the desirable
the ones set apart
denied a seat at the table

Seeing value
in all humanity
in each brother, each sister
loving our neighbors
everyone the same
those like you and me.
