you steal a piece of my #soul – v2 #poetry #customers #invisiblepeople #retail #slavery #chains #respect #humanity #culture #America #God #fearofman #approval #idols #falseidols #pain #value #worth

you may not realize
your blatant condemnation
you disregard for our humanity
tired, angry, at your condescension...
One of the invisible people
you can look down on,
cell phones at the ready
barking your commands,
blindly denying our humanity…

you steal a piece of my soul
every time you ignore me
tapping on your phones
when you expect me to serve you
to know what you want
precisely, completely,
when you are not looking
when you don’t hear my questions
when you treat me
as one of the invisible people...

humbled before you,
your quick-snapped instructions,
looking down on us as servants
rejecting our equality...
seeing us as others as strangers,
not as good as you are
tapping on your cell phones
barking your orders
not noticing those before you…

I hate what you do
matters to me, at all,
that I seek any approval
in the eyes of man...
But your indifference cuts me
I feel your contempt for us
the invisible people, servants,
that you see as beneath you...
We must find our worth within,
and in the eyes of God...

Inside the needle’s eye – v3

Starlight shining upon us,
bent to the needle’s edges,
piercing our consciousness,
our living, our state of being,
in this moment, this time,
offering us a taste, a hint,
of eternity, of our future,
The Creator’s love, our love,
to ponder greater things…

Inside the needle’s eye,
an amulet, a treasure,
light, love, temporal things,
something greater, deeper,
calling to our spirits,
to our vital essence,
our living in this moment,
The Creator’s love, our love,
to ponder greater things…

You don’t have to be Perfect – v3 - #afterpoem #MaryOliver #WildGeese #poetry #joy

An affirmation, in the way of Mary Oliver…
You don’t have to be Perfect,
You must just be honest, truthful,
You can hope, you can dream,
Aspiring for the golden ring, living,
Loving as you are, able, happy,

Loving yourself in the first instance,
Believing that you are here for a reason,
That you are enough, perfect as you are.
Believe, have faith in yourself, in your worth,
That you have a calling, a purpose, value,
A reason for walking on this earth.

Life can move so quickly, overwhelming,
Our experiences, our memories not always fleeting,
Finding ourselves out in the open, in the wild,
Seeking our place in nature, in conversation,
With plant elders, the water, the fields, the forests,
In the moving of the eternal, celestial tides…

to love with abandon – v6

to love with abandon,
our desire to be with Jesus;
to submit to Christ
as a bride to her groom.

to desire Christ ever,
as if for the first time;
a passion for our Lover
our Shepherd, our risen Lord.

Her eyes the bowl – v3

Her eyes the bowl
her tears the water
that washed her Savior’s feet
her hair the towel

her hands anointing
pouring oil upon His feet
Her joy in being a servant
her sin on display before her

coming before God
humbly, wide open
her life exposed
forgiven by her King
