She stood there,
at the top of the stair
with hand outstretched
for me to view, to see,
her first tooth,
clutched like a butterfly
in her palm, her small hand
Grinning ear to ear
with pride, anticipation,
and the knowing
of the coins to come
from the beloved
Tooth Fairy
