threads pulled – v3

other branches joined

made part of the vine

other threads joined

coming into union

into a beautiful image

a tapestry, on a loom, unfinished,

intertwined colors, pulled

coming together;

as the roots of the redwoods

woven one to another

healed in the union, the joining,

standing throughout time

stronger in union, in concert,

threads woven together

against the winds, the storms

seeking the Christ, God,

longing for comfort

safe from all harm;

braced together intertwined,

a single image forming,

knitted hands and fingers

joining in the struggles

like a Chinese finger trap

tighter when we are under stress

but what happens when

the tapestry unravels, torn,

threads pulled bodily

out of the tree, the body, the vine,

when some are judged unworthy

by code, our rule, or finding

unable to serve God

to speak within the body

pulled from the tapestry

the picture incomplete

together the face of Christ

His hands and feet

Too much of our lives

walking in the ways of the world

thinking only of ourselves

of succeeding in others’ eyes;

wanting only to measure up

to the crowd, to our neighbors,

not following the example of Christ

We are called to die, to submission,

to die to our past and rise again;

like a phoenix out of the ashes of self

rising into God’s light, into

the arms of our loving God

into the body of Christ

to serve in the Kingdom

we die in the waters

we die to our self, to our past;

we emerge from the ashes

into new life

As a phoenix on wings

we rise from the dust

from the waters;

We are restored, for a purpose

to serve in our time

We are reborn, renewed,

in our baptism, transformation

into new life in Christ;

with wings we rise

to paradise

Stepping from the Ashes – v4

Up from deep waters, from death,

into refiner’s fire, our baptism, of God;

Stepping from the ashes, alive

walking on this path, this life.

Rising from the dust

up from the waters, a phoenix from the ashes;

We walk by faith, reborn

we are each a new creation in Christ.

We are the seeds, the gifts, the message

at the same time as we are the sower;

We are given to the world, to offer, to share,

to share the joy of Christ.

Rising up, we are reborn, we awake,

up from the depths, the fires of self;

We rise from the ashes below us

on wings to the heights.
