Like water polishing rock,
sometimes imperceptible, inexorable,
But suddenly the cracks split open,
We see decisive actions, momentum,
something in the air, the water,
A change in the balance of power
Ukraine reclaiming territory…
The tide of the war is shifting,
perhaps almost imperceptibly,
But nonetheless real…
 

Asymmetric war, innovation,

Foreign drone production, 

Allies stepping forward, joining,

A new international F-16 squadron,

a different year ended, turning, shifting,

A decisive year has begun, 

unfolding before our eyes,

things are changing on the front…

Quickly seeing the fruits of their efforts,

The resolve of their partners rising,

Ukraine will continue to survive, to adapt…

 

Russia is facing struggle, rebellion,
trying to silence their people, cutting off
communication when they need it most...
General Winter is attacking, General Frost,
Across Siberia, infrastructure is collapsing,
Russia’s size has become its weakness…
Ukraine’s strength mutes its power…
Homegrown weapons become effective
destroying strategic targets
Their Achilles Heel…
 
Asymmetric warfare, drones, and missiles,
A change in the language of allies,
A rise in the KIA numbers, shifting,
a new target announced by leaders,
Hunting in their homeland, unprotected…
They will be defeated by attrition,
By their self-destructive choices,
Vulnerable in their vastness,
a field rich with targets
Too many to protect…

I replied: “Another year ending but different than last December 31. This year ending was like 1942/1943 in the United States, where military production and attacks on Japanese positions began after the attack on Pearl Harbor. The parallels aren't perfect, but Ukraine is now producing more of its own weapons and taking the fight to Russia. 2026 will be decisive for Ukraine’s victory.”

Resistance, staring at challenges…

Courage in one door closing,

A turn of the calendar’s pages…

Resolve in the face of terror, evil,

Determination, disregarding betrayal,

Unified at all costs, rising as one…

A people, a nation together,

Despite everything, standing,

Knowing what they have faced,

Standing resilient because they must…

Clear-eyed about terror, this genocide…

Despite everything standing strong,

Determined to persevere, to achieve…

Hope in the struggle, the maelstrom,

Never backing down, defiant, resourceful…

Life continues always, together,

Standing, kneeling as one people,

United within their territory, their nation,

Until victory is won for their people…

Until a just peace rises like the sun...

Another year of a genocidal war in Europe, launched by Russia to destroy us, is coming to an end. Any illusions that the civilized world would be outraged by such injustice and decisively stop Putin’s imperial ambitions have faded.
Ukraine has found itself at the epicenter of events that will shape a new international order. A different year ended,
unlike a year ago, holding…
Changes on the battlefield,
their war footing as a nation…
The tide is changing, rising,
their own munitions production,
targeting oil infrastructure, power,
strikes the enemy cannot stop…
 
No longer defensive,
caught waiting, flat-footed,
with timid allies, frozen,
compromised by oil and gas…
Building their own security
their own native power…
Taking the fight to the enemy,
more than Russia can stop…
 
Momentum is changing in battle
redefining a war of attrition,
drones and intelligence,
matched by their boldness…
Deep strikes in their rear…
A rising tide of judgment
against their war crimes…
Timid allies galvanized
around Ukraine’s will to live…

Courage in one door closing,
A turn of the calendar’s pages…
Resolve in the face of terror, evil,
Determination, disregarding betrayal,
Unified at all costs, rising as one…
A people, a nation together,
Despite everything, standing,
Knowing what they have faced,
Resilient because they must…
 
Despite everything standing strong,
Determined to persevere, to achieve,
Hope in the struggle, the maelstrom,
Never backing down, defiant, resourceful…
Life continues always, together,
Standing, kneeling as one people,
United within their territory, their nation,
Until victory is won for their people…
Until a just peace rises like the sun…

Another year of a genocidal war in Europe, launched by Russia to destroy us, is coming to an end. Any illusions that the civilized world would be outraged by such injustice and decisively stop Putin’s imperial ambitions have faded.
Ukraine has found itself at the epicenter of events that will shape a new international order. And despite everything, people in Ukraine continue to fight for even the slightest chance — for themselves and their children — to have the freedom to live without fear of violence and to have a long-term perspective,” — @avalaina_ua head of the @center_for_civil_liberties.

Courage to Step Outside – v3 #poetry #fear #courage #life #Ukraine #war #Christmas #Kyiv #culture #joy #parade

Fear wants us to hide, to cower,
to remain cloistered in chains,
to wall off our lives from dangers,
in our bedrooms, our closets,
hidden from the world, the chaos,
evil swirling winds around us…
 
Terror screeches in every room
swirling in our consciousness, dread,
sirens of chaos, destruction, the enemy,
seeking to defeat us, to terrorize,
to bind us, that we would remain frozen,
denying us beauty, our traditions…
 
But we must gather ourselves,
We must be resolute, determined,
We must be open, raw, transparent…
We must open our locked doors,
our hidden demons, this moment,
everything on the table, exposed…
 
We must have the courage to step outside
to embrace one another in this season,
despite the present danger, the risk,
evil that seeks to destroy us,
this is our choice, our challenge,
against this evil horde…
 
For life is in the living, the challenge
to plunge out into the world
to gather in public together
to sing the ancient songs, to live,
to be one people united,
to not let fear defeat us…

Їду в метро й думаю, як часто ми відкладаємо життя «на потім». Пишу мамі: «Візьми когось із собою і наважся поїхати туди, поки осінь ще така красива, поки в тебе є машина — і натхнення гарантоване». Надсилаю їй кілька локацій, які варто побачити. І додаю фразу, яку, здається, адресую їй: «страх не має часу, а ми маємо обмежений час на цій землі» І далі собі думаю: Страх — це безчасова субстанція. Йому байдуже, скільки тобі років, який сьогодні день і скільки разів ти вже відмовилась від чогось. Він живе поза календарем і годинником. Страх не старіє, не втомлюється, не чекає слушного моменту. Він просто є і завжди зʼявляється, приходить будь-якої миті, коли ти починаєш рухатися і пірнаєш в нове. Але ми — не страх. Ми маємо тіло, яке відчуває час. Ми маємо шкіру, яка старіє. Ми маємо дороги, які не чекатимуть, поки ми зберемося. Ми маємо обмежений час, щоб жити, а не просто існувати поруч із власними виправданнями. Страх завжди знайде причину залишитись вдома, але враження від життя не прийде до тих, хто не виходить з дому.

was it the light John spoke of
in his holy scripture,
that was seen by the baptizer,
while he was in the womb,
the light in Mary’s vessel,
the light that entered the world,
the light that was growing
in her sacred womb…
 
was it Christ’s light, consciousness,
John saw, that made him leap,
at the sound of Mary’s voice,
our Savior beside him, growing,
waiting within her vessel,
growing in secret, in silence,
His clay being molded
In her sacred womb…

Christ heard Mary’s heart beating – v2

From the moment the Holy Spirit fell upon her,
piercing the veil, a tear in the fabric of time,
the eternal Son became human flesh,
descending in that instant from heaven,
He felt his body forming, growing,
within the womb of Mary…
 
Christ heard Mary’s heart beating,
the waters of her blood flowing,
feeding Him, growing, alive,
alive in the darkness,
within the secret place,
the eternal mortal, flesh…
 
Emmanuel, Messiah, come to earth,
the One who was prophesied, to come,
in the well, the pool of her womb, growing,
Christ, God here with us, transcendent,
conscious of His divinity always,
yet an embryo, a baby, human flesh…
 
Christ heard Mary’s heart beating,
stronger as He grew in secret,
like us within our mothers,
fed by her love, her blood,
in the well of her womb,
ready to enter the world…
 
The King of Kings, our Lord of Lords,
our now risen Lord and Savior,
His body quickening, taking His first breath,
held in the hands of Joseph, of Mary,
His first cries of life of love for us,
eternal, laid in His manger bed…

Mary and Jesus,
for the months after the Spirit,
after the immaculate conception,
before our Savior’s birth…
 
Their hearts beating together,
Mary and her son Jesus,
Christ growing within her,
our Savior, Emmanuel…
 
Mary and Jesus,
their songs, their love story,
making the eternal mortal,
growing in His mother’s womb…
 
Their hearts beating together,
as they would forever, truly,
with Him at conception,
beyond that day on the cross…
 
Mary and Jesus,
Child and her Father,
His first disciple Mary,
exalted on high…

In each breath, each moment,
Mother and Child forever,

Their hearts beating together

Mary and Jesus,
for the months after the Spirit,
after the immaculate conception,
before our Savior’s birth…
 
Their hearts beating together,
Mary and her son Jesus,
the Christ growing within her,
our Savior, Emmanuel…
 
Mary and Jesus,
their love story, their song,
bringing the eternal mortal,
growing in his mother’s womb…
 
Their hearts beating together,
as the would forever, truly,
with him at conception,
beyond that day on the cross…
 
Mary and Jesus,
Child and her Father,
His first disciple Mary,
exalted on high…
