coiled trumpets – v2

wearing their royal regalia,
vibrant colors of their clan,
holding to the fence behind them
buglers ready for battle,
their banners held high…
resting, ready at the ramparts,
heeding the battle cry.
 
coiled trumpets, at the ready,
their lips on the mouthpiece,
ready to blow, the battle cry,
strong and steady the archers,
horseback riders lined up row on row,
all of them heed the drummers,
for the buglers, their battle cry…

A ribbon of footprints – v2

Their hooves drawing a line,
a ribbon of footprints,
at the edge of the ditches,
banks above the highway
roadways we traveled,
in the frozen north…
 
A ribbon of footprints,
deer of these forests,
drawing a beautiful line,
separating mankind,
from the wild, nature,
forests beyond…

A sea of liquid gold - v2

Looking toward the mountain, westward,
shortly before this day’s sunset
a sea of liquid gold,
Ice almost blinding, shimmering,
overwhelming my sight, this view.
 
A living sea of liquid gold
alive, shining brightly,
Fields off into the distance
bleeding purity of color
the whole world afire, aglow.

#Dancing in her #Giggle #Feet – v6

Almost perfect, eternal,

Shirley Temple locks shining,

the bright smile of her daughter -

a pure moment of bliss.

 

Turning, spinning out of control,

singing to herself, to the angels,

Dancing in the store aisles,

Dancing in her giggle feet.

 

A change so quickly,

A cloud descending, falling,

a “No” setting off explosions,

a chain reaction, in an instant.

 

Crying, stomping her angry feet,

A sudden meltdown, fury,

her world was crushed,

a moment complete.

 

A snack, another turning, suddenly,

a change from chaos to happiness,

her joy was restored, renewed,

A big smile shining.

 

A return of giggle feet,

Turning, laughing, gleeful,

Dancing in the shopping cart,

Dancing in her seat.
