the same prayer as Jesus – v2

a true disciple, a willing servant
faithful to the end
to the path God gave him;
the prayer he raised up
shouted up to heaven
as he died at their hands
faithful, a martyr;
the same prayer as Jesus
asking for forgiveness for them;
but not praying to the Father.
this time praying to the Son.

When the mosques empty – v2

What will happen, will it be an explosion
what will happen this Friday in that land
when the mosques empty
the people done with their prayers;
Will the madman come
to rain bullets down upon them
will they cry for freedom
rising up in the square

What will happen across Libya
in Fashloom, Tajoora, Bin Ashoor
in the rest of Tripoli
will they finally rise up
will the people be free;
Will the coward shoot them
denying them their rights
will the world stand by in silence
as the day turns red with blood

Unrest in Egypt – v4

There is still trouble in that ancient land
so important to the world
political unrest in Egypt,
in the Maghreb, in the Gulf;
People taking to the street
it is long past time to speak.

All of us complacent
if we do not join with them
calling for their ouster
for democracy to prevail
rights for all people
for all of this to end.

Into the Fist of the Madman – v2

The world allowing this to continue
the people seeking freedom
given over, abandoned,
into the fist of the madman.

Hope not yet extinguished
as the people fight for freedom;
a million strong in Benghazi
still needing our assistance.

Time is now, urgent,
the window not yet closed;
but the brutality of revenge
will surely come.

If we ignore the people,
if we turn a blind eye on the martyrs;
where we said he should be overthrown
we must act on our convictions.

Any action is a start,
we must do more than speak;
words just a spark, a start,
but may they burn with freedom.

Acting on convictions,
stopping the dictator;
history will judge us by
how we act in this very moment.

seeing heaven

seeing heaven
dying by their hands
stoned for proclaiming
the risen Son of Man
shouting boldly
over their denials
seeing heaven
Christ standing before him
welcoming him home.

Declaring War on His People – v5

The madmen, the madmen
Murdering, terrorizing
declaring war on his people
not “the violence in Libya”
but death in the streets
the same in Syria, in other states
The madman brutalizing
denying them rights
Killing his people
in an abuse of his might
