I am not ready – v3

I remember so clearly his sharing these words,
in memory, in prayer, welling up within him,
a word of caution for all of us gathered,
hearing these words of challenge,
of preparation, for what will be...

“Here it comes and I’m not ready”,
not ready to meet my Maker,
a balancing of the scales,
to have an accounting,
measuring my life…

Wishing there had been that there was more time,
All that I have done, my history, failings,
time for me to change, to turn,
to walk more closely to You,
the rest of my days, oh God…

These words that he shared, with us,
a measure of his witness, his truth,
of his daily walk, his struggles,
walking more humbly
each day of his life…

a life for joy – v4

a life for joy, praising
Christ’s choices
not to be a slave;
but to be God’s servant
to give himself over
to save us from death

a life for joy, praising
to quicken our spirits
life in Christ’s actions
in His choices in life
to give himself over
to save us from death

an accounting to God – v2

all will be judged
by our hearts
our own actions
how we live
not by any other

God will judge us
how we walk in this life
an accounting of our lives
were we faithful
did we offered love

Strangely Warmed – v2

Wesley’s description, his conversion
an appropriate thought on Pentecost morn’

Strangely warmed, so they must have been
flames of fire, resting on them, alive

Changing their ways, the path of their days
the lives evermore, guided by the Spirit within

Living within them, their beating hearts
the embers of that day, ever indwelling within

Our days like them, like him, the founders of our faith
the fire of the Spirit warming us still, in our hearts

the epiphany of John Wesley – v5

the epiphany of John Wesley
feeling the Spirit moving;
an epiphany of Grace
of justification
saved not by any works
only the grace of Christ.

the epiphany of John Wesley
warming his spirit;
changed forever
by the grace of Jesus
the scripture with new meaning
forever changed by God.
