Miry Clay – v2

Our feet stuck in sin
the miry clay
on the Potter’s wheel
needing to be healed

Calling to the Father
to let us enter in
accepting His Son
the forgiveness of sin

Our lives sticking
malleable, miry clay
covering the Potter’s hands
His prints upon our hearts

My hands, my feet, clay
stuck in the mire, the earthly;
Raised by the Potter

Being Ever New Clay – v2

Mold me, Lord.
Pick me back up,
throw me back onto the wheel
when I am chipped, cracked,
broken into pieces,
when my glaze fades,
when I shatter,
when I am tarnished.

Make me forever new clay,
malleable, moldable,
fresh and new,
ready for Your hands,
the hands of the Potter
to make me a useful vessel
for Your purposes.
Mend me, fill the cracked places
repair my brokenness
and bring me back to You.

Working the Clay

The warmth of your hands
the feel of your touch, your care
your strength, your love
turning the wheel, the balance,
the lump of clay, my shape, my body
my form, my purpose, my calling
rising from the surface
taking shape, in his hands
changing, growing, becoming clearly
called from the clay, the earth
my innermost being
my days numbered, my thoughts known
my life charted, crafted, molded
within your hands

about my poem, Clay on the Wheel
--------
Clay on the Wheel

My life, clay on the wheel
feeling the touch of the potter
molding, reshaping, changing me
constantly pliable, moist,
never yet fired, hardened
ever malleable, changing,
never finished in this life

His fingers, prints on my flesh
changed by the creator, the potter
giving my life over to Him
clay on His wheel,
submitting to His will
may I ever be thus

A Thud and a Squish

The pastor had them enthralled,
And us too, describing the
Shaping of each of us,
Using the words of the prophet
And more visceral, more childish language
To inform the congregation
Of the love, the constant love
Of the potter for each creation,
For the loving correction, the loving
Restarting of the vessel,
The renewing of the malleable clay
Into something useful, wonderful
Beautiful to the potter.
