Fire, gathered from the ether – v2

Fire, gathered from the ether, silken threads,
something holy, eternal, within every breath,
words of passion, empathy, of confession, conviction,
a rise of justice in the crucible of our present age
Life held deep within us, springing forth like water,
hope for love to abound, for peace to endure…
 
Arrows in my quiver, my bow in my hand at the ready,
darts to pierce the darkness, rage to start a blaze,
nothing lukewarm, the fire raging within me, alive,
anger at injustice, complicity, the feckless, the liars,
Oligarchs chasing power, the haters in our midst,
minions of Satan, those who would defeat us…
 
Fire, gathered from the ether, flames woven together,
yet not burning my flesh because they are sacred, gifted,
words from Almighty God placed in my hands, my heart,
if I am faithful, even when I am fearful, when I am timid,
My words have power to change the face of the world,
words to lift, to raise up, to bring glory to God…
 
Wild horses, untamed, the words running free already,
magic loosed into the universe long before I found them,
or they found me, ready, open, excited by the encounter,
fire, gathered into my hands, unburned, shining brightly,
Water poured into me, ablaze in vibrant colors, surging, rising,
finding a deeper consciousness, a place within our dreams…

Fire, gathered from the ether

Fire, gathered from the ether, threads,
something holy, eternal, within every breath,
words of passion, empathy, confession, conviction,
a rising of justice in the crucible of our present age
life held deep within us, springing forth like water,

Arrows in my quiver, my bow at the ready,

My words are my weapons,
in the battle that is raging,
sharp arrows in my quiver,
my drones, my missiles,
sharpened to a fine edge
through years of combat,
trials against injustice,
railing now against their evil,
to change hearts, to rally allies,
to see the arc of history bend
toward justice for Ukraine...

My words are my weapons
arrows I have been gifted,
fire gathered from the ether,
from my empathy, my passion,
written, typed on these pages,
shared widely, freely, urgently,
like stones skipped on a still pond,
casting ripples, moving, expanding,
to change hearts, raising prayers,
to see the arc of history bend
toward justice for Ukraine...

We must prepare for battle – v2

The world cries out in anguish,
in pain of the struggle, the war,
raging, ignited, burning,
costing far too many lives…
 
We must prepare for battle,
for the Enemy is present,
war rages around us, ablaze,
in the physical, the spiritual realms…
 
Put on the full armor of God,
be prepared for the onslaught,
for the attacks of the enemy,
in the darkness of that night…
 
We must prepare for battle,
lies, siren calls, for agents of Satan,
seeking to destroy us, to pull us,
from the love of God, our Savior…
 
The world cries out in anguish,
generation upon generation, unending,
stuck in the cycle of violence, of trauma,
in the physical, the spiritual realms…
 
Put on the full armor of God,
for the war all around us,
we must be in the vanguard, the gap,
when it is our time to stand on watch…

Psalm 19 – v2

Words, again and again the psalmist adds

words about words, the

speech of creation, the birthing

words of the Lord, the Creator speaking

So beautiful the language

of honeycombs and the sweetness of the Law

dripping from our lips, our lives,

Finally, turning to us, to keep

away from folly, from arrogance,

from loose tongues, from quick words that can hurt

He completes the song with the familiar words

words that start many a sermon, words in prayer

that they may be pleasing, acceptable

to the Creator, to our God,

that they may inspire, teach, lead

the flock closer to You

A Sword – v2

A sword, such in the word of God

of the Spirit, living in each one of us

a weapon, an offensive weapon,

to be used to change the world

to go out, courage

wearing the armor of God

out in the world

A message of love, written on our hearts

made real, living through us

armor we need, to defend us from the world

the temptations, the assaults, the enemy

but the sword for battle, to bring the fight to them

this is our sword, our battle axe

the holy word of God

As he was spirit
even as he was flesh
his words were spirit
eternal life
woven within his promise
the gift of his descending
walking on the earth
words of life
poured out for us
living waters
refreshing our souls
words of spirit, of power
bringing us home

words of spirit, of life
hope in their deepest meanings
the musings of the spirit
not of the flesh alone
down from heaven
a foretaste of his sacrifice
his body broken
his blood poured out
the breach sealed by the balm
living waters of his love
words of spirit and life
speak to me now
sooth me, remind me
make me see your ways
all the days of my life
