Please don’t sting me

Approaching with stealth

or blundering forward;

Seeing my quarry

the bees on the blooms.

Saying a prayer

speaking right to them;

Please don’t sting me,

I mean you no harm.

By the flowerbed
the violets sheltered
already blooming
movement catching my eye

The honeybee early
working as it does
gathering the rich pollen
covering its legs, its body
as in moves on to the next
