Lumped
in with the others
stained
by their words, their actions
regretting
the name, “Christian”,
the
name that I love.
I
ache for the travesty,
their
many ways of injustice
bastardizing
the holy name
the
name of the risen Christ.
Wanting
to scream, “STOP!
this
is not the way of Jesus,”
the
way of grace, of mercy,
the
way of the rugged cross.
The
name I love become a curse
through
the actions of others,
even
through my own failings
where
I have fallen short
Oh
how there must be tears in heaven
when
the word, “Christian”, is spoken in anger
when
the wickedness of man
is
wrapped in Jesus’ name.
