Grasses, Ferns and the Tree Tops – v8

All of this space changing
the tableau of springtime
like a cascade of color
all shades, variations of greens;
Hues from the brightest to the warmest,
all of them alive in this morning
shining through the low fog;
New life begun.

The mist of this morning
giving up its hidden secrets
the forest alive and vibrant
from grasses, ferns,
up to the tree tops;
Alive with wonder
the tableau of the morning,
awakening before our eyes.

Within the Mist – v3

Not fog exactly
not full rain either
even when stopping
wiper blades silent
moving down the road

Driving, moving forward
within the mist, the blanket
the bubble of the low clouds
the green of the forest reaching
reaching out to all of us

Within the mist of the morning
the verdant woods around me
surrounding, calling, wooing,
reaching out to each one of us
leading us onward
out in the world

we stand on God’s grace

not by the law, our righteousness
not by our deeds, our acts in this life;
we stand on God’s grace,
on His unmerited love,
on the sacrifice, the blessing,
the hope in our resurrection
because Christ came down,
taking on our sin
the stain of the judgment
the hope we have in Him
in grace when the winds blow
the challenges, the struggles
temptations in life
only by God’s grace
may we see Paradise

The Trees Stripped Bare – v2

The stronger winds
the rain in the night
exposing the limbs;
The arms of the trees
stripped bare of their leaves.

The colors muted
hidden in shadows
under the trees;
A sea of color
as far as the eye can see.

Wet folding in
an envelope of dew;
Drenched on the ground
other leaves falling
more raking to do.

Grasses, Ferns and the Tree Tops – v7

All of this changing
a tableau of springtime
a cascade of color
all variations of greens;
From the brightest to the warmest,
alive in this morning,
shining through the fog;
New life begun

The mist of the morning
giving up its secrets
the forest alive and vibrant
from grasses, ferns,
up to the tree tops;
Alive with wonder
the tableau of the morning,
before our eyes.

Mottled with Rain – v4

The ground covered
the red maple leaves
fallen in a hurry;
Splayed, wide open
mottled with rain.

Saturated color
yet muting the red
heavy on the ground;
Falling, quickly
infused with the Wet.

Into the Verdant Wood – v4

The green calling, spring, to us,
drawing us in, further,
into the verdant wood
while staying on the road.

The forest wrapped around us
heading north on the highway,
drawing us ever onward
for treasure yet untold.

The lush spring forest, shimmering,
before the Green hides all her secrets
revealed for an instant, for us,
wrapped in green below.

All of this changing

The tableau of the morning
alive with wonder
a taste evolving
dawning, morphing,
leading to summer
