In the storms, in our struggles,
When the enemy seems the strongest,
God is here with us; God is by our side…
 
We are never alone, for God is with us,
God fights our battles, the enemy,
Our enemies with us, for us, we can trust in God,
Though our enemies have gathered against us,
God is here with us; God is by our side…

God is my salvation

God is my salvation,
Though I am unworthy,
His anger has turned from me,
God has raised me from the pit,
He has redeemed me, fully,
I have been washed clean…
 
God is my salvation,
No more shame, forgiven,
Washed by the blood of the Lamb,
Redeemed, made righteous,
I am whole, I am reborn,
I have been given new life…

Why don’t I believe You forgave me, Lord – v2

How can I claim to believe,
to trust in You only,
am I truly a Christian,
how can I continue to carry
what I have left You in prayer,
my sin, my guilt, my shame?
 
Why don’t I believe you forgave me, Lord,
that You died on my cross to free me,
that You forgive me of all of my sin,
no matter how far I had fallen,
how far from You I have wandered,
how far, how long I have run away?
 
Why do I pick it up, take it back,
my pain, my sin, my shame,
old chains that I have carried,
when You have buried them in Hell,
before You rose to save, to redeem us,
before You were lifted, seated on high?

10, 20, 30 years in our past,
and yet we hold on to that sin,
even though we are forgiven,
we are born new, redeemed,
we are raised up from the grave...
 
Do we believe in salvation,
That God forgives us,
That Christ died for our sin,
That He came for each of us,
That He chose the cross to save us...
 
Where is your faith, your trust,
When you hold onto the chains of sin,
Do you not believe you have been forgiven,
When you bring your brokenness to God,
When you placed them on His altar…

But You know that already,
Oh Lord, my God,
Have mercy on this sinner...
 
I repent of the stain,
Crimson of my sin,
I am washed in the blood,
Of my risen Lord, Jesus...

Demon-possessed man attacked me verbally
while I tried to have dinner-break last night at work…
He claimed to be a black-Irish leprechaun, a unicorn,
from Brooklyn, a former coroner from Miami,
recently released from prison. His banter was
phrases from super-hero, anti-hero dystopia
and horror films, at least in part…
&
I tried not to engage him, not to give more oxygen to the evil
emanating from his words. I knew instantly that this wasn't
an attack from him, but was an attack from Satan, that demons
had control of his spirit. Strange to be aware in the moment.
I know that sounds strange but I am certain. The way his jaw moved
side to side, the way he went from speaking in riddles to grunts and
a word-bile rising from deep down his throat was ugly.

Bile rising

Facing his demons,
His body tormented,
Twisted in fear, in rage,
Out of his control…
 
Bile rising, climbing,
From deep within him,
Not wanting to give oxygen,
To ignite his evil…
 
Sensing the demons,
His body twisted, bending,
Caught in the rhythm, cadence,
The dance of his Master…
 
Bile rising, fomenting,
From the pit, from Satan,
Demon-possessed, spewing,
Evil, a lie word-salad…

In the Presence of Evil

Knowing without question,
This was an attack of Satan,
His body shaking, words spewing out…
 
In the presence of Evil,
Aware of my surroundings,
Yet a bit naked, exposed, for his bile…
 
His face twisted, distorted,
His whole presence created,
Fighting his demons, but giving them sway…
 
Only prayer, a hedge of protection.
Guarding me from within, without,
Against the attack of Evil…
 
Chains he carried, pulling his body,
Outside the cave, the walls,
The prison of his body…
 
In the presence of Evil,
Aware of my surroundings, exits,

Your words a prayer,
A cloak of protection,
Surrounding me with a hedge,
Against evil, this battle…
 
Exposed in the world,
To the bile of his evil,
The words of death,
Groaned from his lips…
 
Forgetting to pray,
For God’s hedge of protection,
But thankfully you cloaked me,
In God’s mercy, His care…
 
I was saved from the spewing,
His staccato of evil,
By your words of protection,
By your breath-prayer…

A banter, a blather,
Spewing of lies,
A Demon before me
Trying to avert my eyes…
 
Possessed by a Demon,
Chained outside his cave,
Taunting, jeering,
Seeking my response…
 
Speaking in rhythm, in rhymes,
In grunts, guttural utterances,
A man possesses, dancing,
By the string that hold him…
 
Possessed, seeking, trying,
To draw me into the fight,
Unprotected by armor,
Not letting my guard down…

We have not seen the Christ
We do not see Him now,
But we are sure in our hope
In our faith that He will return…
 
We believe with our spirit,
Who we are in our souls,
We stand upon this faith,
For faith is its own reward….

Joyful in a Living Hope

Alive within our spirits,
Our lives a testament
Joyful in a living hope
A life with Christ above,
Joy fills us, lifts our steps,
Of this is what we speak…
 
Joyful in a living hope,
Alive in our living, our walk,
Life eternal promised, waiting,
For us in heaven above,
Our Spirits rising, soaring,
At the trumpet blast…

An inheritance in heaven – v2

Stored up for us from the beginning,
through our justification, sanctification,
through our salvation through Christ,
an inheritance in heaven,
saved for the day of our rising,
when we will be with the Lord…
 
An inheritance in heaven,
our hope is already waiting,
safeguarded above this earth,
our heavenly reward, our blessing,
as children, as believers in Christ,
all those redeemed by His blood…
 
A people, a nation, blessed,
By the sacrifice of Christ,
Love abiding in His promise,
Our living hope, our joy,
Rising up to the heavens,
Love forevermore..

An inheritance in heaven

Stored up for us from the beginning

More than sprinkled,
Washed, anointed,
Cleaned of our stain
With the blood of Lord Jesus…
 
Far more than sprinkled,
Drenched by the blood,
The elect, the chosen,
Washed head to toe…
 
More than sprinkled,
Washed, made clean,
By the blood of Jesus
We are whole again…

if we listen, if we are obedient,
if we strive to follow God’s word…
 
The Spirit speaks,
within this troubled world,
our hearts a vessel, empty,
to be filled, to be poured…
 
The Spirit speaks,
truth, light to save the nations,
the joy we carry within us,
breath to guide our steps…

Keep God’s commands
His words on your lips
Let your light shine
In your walk, this life…
 
Keep God’s commands, His Law,
So your heart does not condemn you,
So you can walk upright,
Before Almighty God….

Asking for forgiveness, for grace,

Our hearts condemn us

We falter, we are broken,
We sin against God, our fellow man,
We are humble, we are unworthy,
Of the gift of God’s grace,
But that is the point…
 
Our hearts condemn us,
We recoil from our sin, our shame,
But Christ has redeemed us,
From the verdict, the stain of our sin,
He has made us to rise with Him…
 
We too can mount up, we can rise,
On wings like eagles, we can climb,
We can source because we are washed,
We are redeemed, we are made clean,
By the precious blood of Christ…

May we be filled,
our lives overflowing,
with joy, with gratitude,
with love, with compassion…
 
Fill yourself with Christ
With the blood of Jesus,
Let Love overwhelm you,
Gifting you life…
 
May we be filled,
in our hearts, our spirits,
with the good things of God,
with all that is good, that is noble…
 
Fill yourself with Christ,
Let His blood wash you,
Let joy fill you, heal you,
May you sing for joy…
 
May we be filled,
with the Word, scripture,
may God’s words be on our lips,
our lives a witness to God’s goodness,
when we are shaken, may love pour out…
 
Fill yourself with Christ,
The Son of our Father,
The Lamb, the Sacrifice,
The source of our life…
