Eyes that will smile again - v3

I see eyes that will smile again,
where joy will be resurgent,
life will emerge in the simplest things,
a sense of calm and peace will bloom…
 
This is my prayer, my friend,
from my spirit, my heart,
that you would again feel joy,
that this weight would be removed…
 
You all have struggled, valiantly,
you have fought evil for too long,
but God has walked with you,
His Spirit will lift you up…
 
Yes, your eyes will smile again,
seeing life in all its fullness, beauty,
simple joys will wash over you, again,
your spirit will be renewed…

Happiness is here,
In this moment, this present,
Each second is real, precious,
Every breath is a manifestation,
Of our joy, God’s presence,
The sustaining of our lives…
 
Happiness is here,
If we will look up, if we are joyful,
Cherishing this now, this present,
Not looking behind us, to a future,
But embracing joy right now,
The present a gift from God…

In this moment, this present,
Each second is precious,
Every breath is a manifestation,
Of our joy, God’s presence,

I see eyes that will smile again,
Where joy that will be resurgent,

seeing our life as a journey,
steps on that road…

Could it really be happening,
his line shot to the corner,
the game, the World Series on the line,
late inning heroics, it all came to this,
To this moment, to this one hit…
 
A crack of the bat, excitement,
everyone rising to their feet,
a whole nation joining with him,
jumping, praying, pushing, waving,
Willing the ball Fair...
 
Jubilation, exaltation,
rising to crescendo,
happiness in this moment,
jumping for joy, leaping, our hero,
Around the bases, oh how He ran…

Darks, Whites, and … Pinks – v3

A routine task made different

with three little girls in the house
For a man who learned
laundry “skills” in college,
long before boys took Home Ec.

Back then we were lucky

when the laundry room was empty

when there was more
than a single load of clothes
(that didn’t cause a washer to tilt)

Now with a four, five, and nine year old

(or so they were back then),
a cluster of little princesses,
It is darks, whites, brights, and pinks
when I sort their clothes

Separate baskets, separate settings,
handling, for pink clothes,

for “dry clean only”–
Capris, and “blouses”, and skorts,
Oh My!

not without sorrow

pain in my history

words I cannot take back

things I have done

moments I cannot fix

the days of my past

my glass is full

I choose to claim joy

life in my Savior

in these days of my walk

joy to lift me, to save me,

to find happiness

in the days of my journey

in life that will last

a choice I am making

claiming this today

to see my glass as full

whatever comes my way

than a single load
(that didn’t cause the washer to tilt)

Now with a four, five, and nine year old

(or so they were then),
a cluster of little princesses,
It is darks, whites, and pinks
when I sort their clothes

Separate baskets, separate settings,
for pink clothes,

for “dry clean only”–
Capris, and “blouses”, and skorts,
Oh My!

Being Her Voice

Not knowing fully what to do
in this time, this situation
her pain fully evident
a public act, in private
unseen by others

Being her voice
standing with her
our lives bound to hers
whatever the consequence

for she is our world
Our only option, trust
going into battle for her
believing her completely
because we must

Thankful, that we live at all

Easier, even in suffering
in the trials of our lives
stopping to thank our God
thankful, that we live at all
that he chose to create
to make us in the womb
that we came to rise
and breath this air
that we have known
what we have seen
experienced in this life
that we exist
and he is by our side
all the days of our lives

Not by a Worldly Standard

In every moment
every circumstance
thanking God, for his presence
his provision, guiding us
in happiness, in sorrow
even when we wonder
where God is, how this
could be happening
why pain or suffering
come to us, in this season
still thanking God
not by a worldly standard
but through the wisdom of his grace
pouring out like water
his love for you and me

Darks, Whites, and … Pinks

A routine task made different
with three little girls in the house

For a man who learned
laundry “skills” in college,
long before boys took Home Ec.

We were lucky when there was more
than a single load
(that didn’t cause the washer to tilt)

Now with a four, five, and nine year old
