Jesus calmed the storm – v2

Jesus woke from resting
secure, at peace,
always abiding in God;
Jesus calmed the storm
that put them ill at ease

Jesus silenced the winds
the power to still them
making the waves to cease;
Jesus calmed the storm
to give them inner peace

God is always watching
we are safe

a refuge

a calm center
a refuge in the storm
safety in our Savior
life evermore
only in Christ
able to be calm
centered when the storm rages
safe from all harm

a safe place - 2

a safe place within the storms
so is the Christ
able to sleep soundly
the waves crashing around us
needing to remember
to trust who He is
able to calm the waters
to silence the wind
Christ immortal
yet here as a man
living here with us
Son of the Great I Am

frightened in the storms

if we watch their eyes
we can see those adrift
not secure in life
buffeted by the waves

frightened in the storms
when the winds come
feeling lost, moving
totally out of control

not feeling any sense of presence
without anyone to lead or to guide us
buffeted on the waves
caught in the whirlwind

frightened by a storm

standing in the boat
while Jesus was with them
not at peace, calm
mirroring the storm
captured by the waves
the roar of the wind around them
buffeted, tossed about
frightened by  a storm
not trusting in Jesus
needing to wake him
for proof of his power
needing him to calm
the waters, the storm
still confused, arguing
the nature of Jesus
powerful enough
to calm the storm
to still the rolling sea

frightened by the storms

buffeted by the winds
tossed by the waves
unmoored, adrift
cast roughly about
frightened by the storms
no anchor, no rudder
lost in the waters
no place to turn, to run

seeking refuge

seeking refuge
within the storms of life
not trusting the Father
too damaged inside
seeking refuge
calming the seas
needing the Savior
abiding with me
walking this same path
trusting in Jesus
who walked the earth
able to calm the waters
to still the storms of life

in search of refuge
within the storm
safe in Christ’s loving arms
safe from all harm
not free from troubles
only presence here with us

like living waters

calm seas, suddenly
a defined place of peace
flowing from the hand of God
from the words of Christ
the storm rebuked, silenced
the wind at bay, at rest

peace flowing like a river
washing over us
healed all our fears
washed in God’s love
the presence of our Lord
the joy thick upon us

like living waters
our joy after this storm
still on the waters
safe in Christ’s presence
able to calm the storm
the sorrows around us

Jesus calms the storms

Jesus calms the storms
the chaos raging ‘round us
not stopping the wind
but sapping its power
demanding the troubles
to stand down, to silence
Christ alone able
to calm the troubled waters

Called Up Again

Not what was expected,
our country continuing
a long drawn out war
in the lands so far away

Called up again,
his unit going
deployed once again
to the heat of the desert

Going, faithful,
servants of their country
following their orders
the call to go and stand

On point in the wilderness
hoping to serve us with courage
standing in the breach
between chaos and life

Doing their duty
faithful, with honor
praying that all of them
will come back safe from harm
