Cleave to the Spirit,
to God’s Holy Word…
 
Be compliant, subversive,
in this broken world,
Change other’s hearts
with how you live…
 
Stand on scripture,
upon Jesus only,
Walk by faith
in this broken world…
 
Cleave to the Spirit
to God speaking within you,
Be blameless, righteous before
all who would harm you…
 
Live your life
as sojourners, exiles,
Be faithful like Daniel
in this fallen world…

centuries later – v2

To us this is ancient history
reading holy scripture
to him it was prophecy
of what was to be,
centuries later.
 
Many, many generations
more than hundreds of years
in his distant future
to him these were a mystery
the rise of recognizable kingdoms.
 
The End Times are still yet to come
But, like the other steps,
this too will come, certain,
Prophecy will be fulfilled,
in a time of God’s own choosing.

Selling his soul

a bargain with the Devil;

Gaining control

of many peoples, many nations.

Satan’s contempt

for God’s people, the same

new champions going into battle

but the same evil

the tyrants, the madmen

the monsters, the coming,

the rising, the growing

the same evil repeating

time after time, after time

the evil of the warlords

the conquering armies

not fighting flesh alone

taking on the armies of God

the wrath to come, the growing

the end times, the anti-christ

A secular world,

empires rising,

falling nations

crumbling to dust.

A secular world,

full of choices,

the way of God

or the path of the flesh.

A secular world,

a spiritual calling,

A secular world,

empires rising;

falling nations

crumbling to dust.

A secular world,

full of choices;

the way of God or

the path of the flesh.

A secular world,

but a spiritual calling;

to turn from the world,

to follow the Christ.

A secular world,

like the firmament, the creation – v2

like the firmament, the creation,

strands of history pulled up

from the waters, from the pages

the Book of Life, written,

the song continuing, being sung,

the history of the world, of God’s people,

cascading forward, waves

a ripple through time

a song, a story continuing,

until the end of time.
