fear no more

If we would only listen
if we gave these words power
the idea of comfort
of being nourished
at a table Christ prepared
the ability to be at peace
to eat before our enemies
knowing God would provide
and that God would protect us
fear no more
if we would but listen
if we would believe the words
and trust in God’s promise

Free to stay away

free to stay away
our choice to come
to enter in
to commune with God
free to go
to follow the crowd
free to choose
to commune with God

a choice in the matter

free will in effect
a choice in the matter
whether to respond to God
to his message, his calling
free will alive
coursing within us
we are free to choose
to follow or to turn away
from the call of God

God knew I would come

God waiting, hopeful
yet God knows our hearts
God knew I would come
when I God left me a note
God waiting, hopeful
trusting in love
God knew I would come
God knows my heart

both are needed

both male and female
protecting, nurturing
both are part
but not the sum
of almighty God
a Mother God
a Father God
a Spirit within
God more than both
but both of them are needed

The Words I Used in Worship – v2

In our time together
in holy conversation
words I used in worship
in how we are to live out
the holy commands of God
in how we are to be conscious
living out the Great Commission
to go and make disciples
to the ends of the earth

Not so much the end
as the process along the way
that we are to sow the seeds of love
to everyone we meet
that we are to water
that the seeds may grow
but that we are to be faithful
to God who provides the growth

Ours to make disciples
but only to a point
our part important
being servants of our God
needing God’s intervention
the fruits to be revealed
the changing of each human heart
something only God can know

A Bursting of Green – v2

Long dormant carpet of grey,
of brown, ashen
parched and pending
waiting for the moment
poised for an awakening
showers and warming

a bursting of green
in the yard, the trees, my world
a different day,
from a single spring shower
on a world ready
for greening

the mothering of Father God

too rigid distinctions
but that is the point
the woman before him
the one known as Papa
the mothering of Father God
to reveal more of God’s nature
neither male nor female
more than the sum of both

The enormity of its absence

the crisis of fathering
the enormity of its absence
resonating in the words of God
in the woman before him
the words of reconciliation
of a mothering of God
the father he never had
in this woman before him
a different manifestation of God
