sacred reverence, honor…
They stand in silence
with those who will not return…
 
The echoes of the metronome
sounding through the silence,
off the black top, the buildings,
bleeding into their hearts…
 
They stop together, united,
in grief, in honor, reverence,
for their fallen, their heroes,
never to forget their sacrifice…

agreeing with God’s judgment,
the debt of our sin…
 
no longer denying,
no longer lying to ourselves,
the wrath of God
kindled by our sin…
 
kneeling in worship,
the posture of a servant,
needing our Savior
to pay our debt…
 
accepting our forgiveness
through the blood of Jesus,
redeemed in our spirit,
in the grace of our God…
 
kneeling in worship,
in humble adoration,
knowing God has saved us,

Pride is illusory, a lie,
a delusion, a weapon,
We believe we are strong
on our own, in ourselves,
a lie, a means to separate us,
from ourselves, from God…
 
We think we are in control,
That power is ours, innately,
that our strength is within us,
but we deny God’s presence,
His omnipotence, His power,
His hands upon our lives…
 
Every good gift comes from God,
Each of our gifts, our talents,
We stand on His grace,
the sacrifice of Jesus,
His presence here with us,
His hands on our lives…
 
We believe the lies,
The deceptions of Satan,
that we are self-made men,
This mantra, this false strength
separates us from one another,
from ourselves, from God…

their fierce independence…
 
A unitary state, while many,
on both sides of the river, Dnipro,
together one against the common enemy,
They are stronger as a state united,
against war, genocide, resolute
against the evil of Russia...
 
They will rise victoriously, a sunrise,
from the rubble, the ashes, the pain…
Though they are many, a unitary state,
resolute against their enemy, Russia,
who once was their cruel master,
centuries of their lies, their brutality...
 
They cannot sacrifice one part, land,
one piece of who they are, together,
for they would lose their identity,
a unitary state, indivisible, immutable,
all of Ukraine is Ukraine,
as they will always be…

You watch over me, oh God,
You save me from death,
You give me life…
 
You have never left me,
You will never forsake me,
You walk beside me, always,
You protect me from myself…
You save my life,
You give me purpose,
You call me to Yourself…

to appease God’s #wrath #poetry #God #Christ #Spirit #incarnation #Emmanuel

not merely expiation, paying the penalty,
a cancellation of the judgment,
Christ came as our one propitiation
to appease the wrath of God,
to satisfy God’s righteous verdict,
to heal us of the condemnation of sin…
 
only the perfect lamb, the Christ,
could bring us back to Him,
only One who was Himself righteous,
One who was without sin
could seal the breach between us,
could bring us back to God…
 
Christ became mortal flesh,
God Himself entered time,
bound by the created order,
becoming our perfect sacrifice,
paying the price, the debt we could not,
Christ climbed our cross for us
to heal us fully within…

Jesus had to become human
to be our priest, our sacrifice,
to be our perfect propitiation,
our ransom of death…
 
Christ descended from heaven
to raise us up with Him,
He entered time from eternity,
He came to set us free…
 
Jesus had to become human
so He chose to be emptied,
God became flesh
so we could go home…

Christ descended as a mortal
He entered our struggles
He donned human flesh
and dwelt among us…
 
Christ knows our trails
He knows the burdens we carry
He lived as a man
before the Spirit descended…
 
Christ was anointed, called,
He was commissioned in the Jordan
He was washed in power
God spoke a word upon Him…
 
Christ entered time
He was crucified for us
He ascended into heaven
to make a way for us…
 
Christ is seated on high
He rules beside the Father
He will come again
to bring us home to Him…
