What would Martin say
in this time, at this moment…
So much progress, so much pain
so much loss and sorrow…
Other marchers lost,
those who carried the banner
who fought the good fight for justice…

What would Martin say
So much of liberty stolen
in the haze of war and struggle
so many in the streets, marching,
fighting for justice, for supremacy…
So many who know better
staying silent in their comfort…

Yes, what would Martin say
So many years forward, history,
so many days of pain, of anguish
in the country, the streets…
So many yet yearning, longing,
for justice, for dignity…
So much more to do, to dare,
to fulfill his dream, our sacred dream…

Lift me from this mortal coil,
This prison that binds that holds me…
Oh Lord, give me wings to fly,
to rise above the earth,
to fly to my homeland...

Lord, let me rise, let me fly,
from my cell from my bed,
to my mother’s side, to my love…
Unchain me from my body,
Oh God, let me rise, free…

I cry in the shadows, bitterly,
in the watches of the night,
to return to my lover…
I need to be beside her…
How I long to take flight…

Release me, Lord, I pray,
from chains of my flesh…
Let me soar, let me rise, give me
escape, from my cell, this fortress,
Oh God, let me fly...

Unchain me from my body,
Release me from this prison…
Let my spirit rise, may I soar,
over the miles, the many hours,
until I reach her shores…

This poem is a summary of many of the poems of Shevchenko when he flies back to Ukraine. I am sure this prayer must have been part of all of the time he was imprisoned, when we was confined away from Ukraine after his release, and even earlier when he struggled, being forced to like apart from his homeland.

to fly to my homeland...

to my angel's side,

unchain me from my body,

My body aches for you

They are true words,

from the heart, from my soul,

from my spirit, deep within who I am,

as a person, as a man...

When I say my body aches for you,

it is overwhelming sometimes,

I yearn for our bodies to be joined,

to make love with you, to be inside you,

to feel your heartbeat, your breath,

your skin against my skin,

your sweat on my body,

to be beside you out in the world...

Every time I think of you, dream of you,

I see you in my mind's eye, you, only you

I see your two pictures as I open my phone,

my body reacts physically and longs for you,

for you, for all of you, my love...

To love, honor, and cherish you...

Until death do us part...

I imagine our love making

Do you ever have waking dreams,

thinking about the future...

I was with you in our home,

dreaming about our kitchen

dim after a candlelight dinner,

the smells of the cooking

still lingering, pans on the stove..

Our goblets on the granite butcher block,

wine half-finished in our rush

with tomorrow's leftovers,

our dishes placed on the counter

next to the deep farmers sink for later,

as we had gone to our bedroom

not to sleep but to make love...

I imagine our love making,

our bodies woven together,

moving together, in rhythm,

feeling myself inside you,

my fingers touching you,

urging you to orgasm,

to a moment of release...

Your back arches, rising,

our lips, our tongues exploring,

the words, "harder, faster",

bubble around your tongue,

moans of release, climax, a cascade

of pleasure, as you collapse with me,

sweating in ecstacy...

As my world fell into darkness

As my world fell into darkness,

I ventured outside, quickly,

to the eastern corner of the driveway

closest to you. Sweetheart...

I spoke into the ether,

across time and space repeating.

"I love you, my Beloved",

aloud three times...

Each time I spoke these words,

an echo in my spirit,

hearing your answer to me,

"I love you more",,,

I spoke into the ether,

and you gifted me your answer,

as my world fell into darkness

I was held by your love...

God has blessed me, richly,
He has put you into my life,
hope to hold onto, joy,
on my journey, on my path…

Nothing is an accident,
I don’t believe in coincidence,
everything is for a purpose,
guided by the hand of God…

I cannot foresee the future,
that is not part of my talents,
but I am holding onto this moment,
this hope, my prayer, this infinite gift…

God has blessed me, richly,
beyond my imagination, life,
joy in the fullness of time,
light upon my walk…

I feel your support – v2

I feel your support, sweetheart,
I sense our connection, my love,
across the miles, across time,
yet we are as close as breath,
the words we share between us…

I long to share my words, my joys,
my hopes, my innermost desires,
to whisper them into your ear,
to feel my breath heavy on your neck,
in a prayer, a lingering kiss…

My words are a hope, a prayer, a promise,
breathed into creation, this world,
longing to manifest peace for you,
a moment with power, to ignite,
to kindle, to set the world ablaze…

Our future is unknown, but alive,
I know it in my spirit, my being,
in this moment, this now, today,
wanting to touch you, to be with you,
to feel your caress, your gentle touch…

A rising wellspring of Joy,
a Hope for our Future,
Happy Warriors on the trail,
seizing the tide of momentum…

So much has changed, better,
than the path we were stuck on,
Joy has returned, Promise is rising,
for a brighter Future, a new Hope…

We must seize this moment,
this opportunity for correction,
a new way, a new path,
for our nation, this world…

A Blue Wave of Promise,
finding Hope for our Future,
life in its fullest, Freedom,
in this land that we Love…

I feel your support,

Words a prayer, a promise – v2

I long to share these words,
to whisper them into your ear,
to feel my breath heavy on your neck,
in a prayer, a lingering kiss…

Words a prayer, a promise,
breathed into creation, this world,
a moment with power, to ignite,
to kindle, to set the world ablaze…

A future unknown, but alive,
in this moment, this now, today,
wanting to touch you, be with you,
to feel your gentle touch, your caress…

Picture me sharing these words,
Whispering them into your ear,
Feel my breath heavy on your neck,
A prayer, a lingering kiss…

Speaking her dreams – v3

Asking a question, joining in conversation,
Conquering her reserve, her reticence,
A smile forming on her young face,
talking about her future, a promise,
what will surely come to pass…

Learning so much, so deeply,
Drawn, encouraged from her shell,
Her loved one’s coaxing, wooing her,
to share her aspirations, her goals,
speaking aloud her dreams of calling…

Finding her resolve, her focus,
Her purpose to do meaningful work,
A dream to change the world, hope,
to defeat the scourge of cancer,
this blight upon our lives…

Like water chiseling stone

Persistently, slowly, relentlessly,
God changes our hatred into love,
even love for our enemies,
like water chiseling stone.

God softens our hard places,
our edges, the danger of our emotions;
God reshapes, God reforms our clay,
our bodies Into God’s image.

or change the wind, to change the public opinion
which guides politics. He used the example
of President Johnson’s statement to the
Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. that it would
take 5 years for a voting rights bill but
it actually took 5 months to pass the Voting Rights Act,
after the March in Selma.
