Shouting in a Whisper – v4

God calling us
Wisdom shouting
the Spirit joining us;
Living waters
welling up inside,
shouting in a whisper
in sheer silence
speaking to us.

in gentle measures
wooing us to follow;
Whispering love, promises
to live in the way;
acting on our callings,
the stirrings of the Spirit,
using our gifts for God’s glory
going the way of the cross.

gardener – v3

Christ sowed the seeds
the words of creation;
words of love, parables,
planted within our hearts

Christ pulled the weeds
the demons that oppressed us;
the things that get in the way
burdens upon our lives

Christ pruned the dead
the suckers draining us;
Cutting away all else
the kept us from God

Christ is the Gardener
watching over us;
offering living springs of water
to raise up the garden
a harvest unto God

The shadow the same – v4

the cloth may be different
the black of sorrow
of Friday, of Saturday,
white for the resurrection
of Easter morning
fabric hanging upon the cross
in front of the church

the fabric may be different
but the shadow the same
the choice, the cross,
to follow His example
in humble submission,
to give completely
in the service of God

the light projecting
into the community
sharing the shadow
the continuing mission;
Christ’s example
the cross, the light,
the love of God.

so much blood – v2

the scourging
the crown of thorns
the angry nails
the lintels of the cross
covered in blood

so much blood
of the Lamb
to protect the lost
blood on the altar,
the horns, the sacrifice

poured out
for heaven
to give us new life
so much blood spilled
in Christ’s sacrifice

offering water in the drought – v2

We must be humble on the journey,
faithful in the desert times,
trusting in God, that He will provide;
We are to offer water in the drought;
Giving in to our struggles
offering to God our lives,
all that we can offer
not just the excess;
Knowing it will be enough.

We must only give to Caesar
that which he claims,
treasure of this earth
and no more than that;
We must offer God the rest
offering water in the desert
faithful in the dust, the struggles;
our few coins offered to God;
Knowing it will be enough.

Truly Open – v5

Only in Christ’s action,
in His loving example,
in the timing of God
Only by the Spirit’s moving
Are we truly ready, open
to the message of God
His calling upon our lives.

All else is clouded, murky,
bound by human understanding,
slogging through the mire
In the walk of our lives;
Needing God’s discernment
on which way to go
the way He has planned for us.

Coming to Christ on the Way to the Cross

Not on the Emmaus Road
Christ coming upon the disciples
the risen Christ, Easter morning
comforting their troubled souls

We are coming to Christ
joining him, walking with our master
choosing to follow the Christ
on the way to the cross

In this season of Lent
slowing our pace,
conformed to our savior
walking with the Christ

Where he will lead us
what we will learn on the way
trusting in our savior
through the narrow gate to God
