In Prayer, Discernment – v2

In the quiet of my spirit,
bowing my head, silently,
no words audible, spoken,
praying to You in the quiet
in the stillness of my soul…
 
Finding You there, in the stillness,
waiting ever for me, patiently,
in the quiet presence
away from the day to day…
 
Speaking when I am open,
to Your presence, my worship,
in my prayer, discernment,
receptive to Your word, oh God,
Speak, Lord, I am listening…

beyond human cleansing

refined pure, light

living God, risen Christ

Drape us in love

wearing the Christ

the cloak of the Spirit

on the outside, upon us

Living flames upon us

alive, burned clean,

and the Spirit within us

Different Nets – v2

Different quarry, our target

different nets, measures

using tools, techniques

appropriate, right for the task

The words, of God, of Jesus,

the love that He shared

designed for the hearts of men

bringing God to the crowd

to bring them back to Him

Casting sturdy nets

into the crowds, the oceans,

reaping a harvest of souls

men for the nets to bring in the catch

so they each were called

Able for the work, equipped,

knowing what it would take

the callouses on their hands testified

going out into the lands

to fish for hearts instead

As He Passed By – v2

As Christ passed by me

all of us were joyful

jockeying for position

as the palms waved

shouting “Hosanna!”

to our king

Christ entering Jerusalem

hot and dusty, exuberance,

cloaks and branches falling

carpeting the road

softening His steps

We felt Joy that afternoon

before the Passover

hope He would free us

once more that our chains

would be loosened

that our people would be free

or change the wind, to change the public opinion

which guides politics. He used the example

of President Johnson’s statement to the

Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. that it would

take 5 years for a voting rights bill but

it actually took 5 months to pass the Voting Rights Act,

after the March in Selma.
