God’s love is greater

staring at the cracks in the mirror
Harm my sins have created
concentric circles, the ripples,
spreading outward, injuring
myself and my loved ones,
even strangers I will never meet
The Butterfly Effect is expanding,
making fossil footprints in time…
 
if my sin has left footprints
widening circles, a legacy,
God’s love is greater
restoring each of us fully
bearing our cross, our shame,
Every ripple our sins birthed
from Creation to this now,
Every sin of mankind upon the cross…

They led me to my destruction

My sin, the chains, the yoke,
the shame that I carry
They led me to my destruction
to separation from God and man…
 
No matter the sins against me
the deep hurt within me
Even my false resentment
my anger against our God…
 
All within me is broken,
save for God’s Spirit within me,
My pain, my selfishness
have led me to destruction…
 
Only in giving up control
my autonomy, my agency to You,
I can only be healed
If I submit my life to You…

I am responsible for my responses

I am not guilty for the harms
any sin committed against me,
I am not the source of my abuse
what was done against me….
 
But I must own my sin,
my actions that led me astray,
all of my choices in the flesh
every time I walked away
rebelling against God…
 
I am responsible for my response
for every sin I have committed
every harm where I am complicit,
no ones fault but my own,
no excuses, no lies, transparent,
naked as I am before God…

I have been selfish

I have been on guard
I have put on a mask
I have been hurt deeply,
and I have hurt others
I have been selfish in my life…
 
I have had much taken from me
my sense of self, of joy,
I have yanked them back to me
sometimes violently, reflexive,
I have hurt those I love…
 
I have been selfish
I have lived in the flesh
taken what was not mine
to love, to cherish,
I have sent cracks in time…

our sin deeply rooted,
welling up, this bile, this poison,
from deep within us,
our nature, our DNA…
 
hiding beneath reason,
below conscious thought,
our flesh, our primordial self,
leads us away from God…
 
but God can redeem us,
He will gather us in,
like a lost sheep He pursues us,
God will bring us home…

to cherish each blessing
to acknowledge God’s presence,
as close to you as breath…

feeling joy in your spirit,
don’t rush but sojourn
knowing God is beside you,

taking time to thank, to praise You,

more than I can ever ask for,
if I am honest, truthful, mindful,

How I seek to praise You,

Every good and perfect gift – v2

Every good and perfect gift,
everything we have, life itself,
comes from the Father, the Creator
of heaven and earth, our Savior,
God’s Spirit living within us…
 
We are of the dust, the dirt,
clay like the animals, all flesh,
we come from nothing, dust,
and to dust we shall return
at the end of our days…
 
But we have life, life in abundance,
days of opportunities, of possibilities,
because of the love, the provision,
the grace of our Father, our Brother,
gifts from our Creator, our God…
 
God gives us life, for this time, this season,
to live into our calling, our purpose,
for God, for His kingdom, to lift,
our neighbors, all those who God loves,
all of His children on earth….
