May we not wither – v2

May we not tarry, sojourn,
wandering in the desert
May we not linger, lost,
in the dry places, empty,
living apart, separated
from eternal God…
 
May we not wither, dying,
in the desert, the dry places,
May we be like trees by the waters
springing forth with new life
connected with the Shepherd,
with our Father, with God…
 
May we rise up, revived, anointed,
May we bear fruit in each season,
May our lives be a testament,
a witness to God’s Love
to His promise to walk with us
as we walk on this earth…

there, but for Your Grace, go I

I know full well, my sin, my failure,
the sins I have committed,
the ways I have rejected You
my Savior and my God…
 
I share with them my witness,
how You saved my life,
how I could be just like them,
there, but for Your Grace, go I…
 
It is no exaggeration, my truth,
that my sins are an indictment,
a charge against my soul
I could never repay…
 
But You, Lord, You saved me from the pit
You raised me for a purpose, a mission,
to be Your broken vessel, willing,
to be filled, to be poured…

Returning to You,
to You, oh God,
sitting in Your pew crying,
knowing You saved me,
You spared my life…
 
Still a wandering prodigal,
but redeemed by Christ’s blood,
humbly approaching,
Your throne, oh God…
 
Returning to You,
the faith of my youth,
overcome with connection,
You restored me, oh God…
 
After You spared my life,
I bow down before You,
I pour our myself,
to be use by You,
Almighty God…

what if we could see ourselves

only through God’s mirror

through the way God sees us

not as the world judges us

conformed to their way

their baggage, their bias

what if we were to cling to

the words of scripture

the words of Christ Jesus

how would we see ourselves

if we held up God’s mirror

if we saw ourselves

through the sacrifice of Jesus
