A reminder in scripture -
Every mother bears an echo of Mary -
eternity in her vessel growing,
part of creation with the Creator...
but, oh, the wonder, the power,
from the moment of conception -
Before He was laid in the manger -
before His sacrifice, love,
the intimacy of incarnation
Christ in that secret place,
Held in Mary’s blessed womb...
 
Mary became God’s servant,
her life, her body, her all,
became a holy vessel, but
far more than her womb,
carrying the seed of Jesus,
her place in this world,
Mother Mary, our matriarch
holding eternity closely
the life growing within her,
Christ, the Messiah, the Son,
The immortal became flesh...
 
The kernel of heaven was within her
growing within her vessel
in secret, in silence, living,
God’s holy seed, the Christ...
The Creator, who set the stars in motion,
folded Himself into the smallest seed of humanity,
choosing fragility, choosing dependence -
Nine months of quiet, of waiting,
a heartbeat beside Mary’s own,
listening to the heartbeat of Mary,
Jesus, our risen Lord and Savior...
 
God entered creation,
inside the bounds of time,
love, living as we do, mortal,
nine months of quiet, of waiting, -
Every child before they are born,
like our risen Lord and Savior -
hearing the heartbeat of our mother,
a divine pulse beating within her flesh.
formed in silence, in secret
conscious of humanity, human,
of the world He had entered,
Broken, in need of restoration...

The suffering servant – 2 – v2

Christ’s very first disciple,
the suffering servant,
the Mother of God, Mary,
mortal like each one of us…
 
A willing vessel, the handmaiden,
a daughter of Jacob, of David,
brought to a place of glory,
yet bearing so much, pain….
 
She knows all our struggles,
our suffering in this life, this path,
for she has walked that journey,
from the manger to the cross…
 
A willing servant, a disciple,
who raised her baby, Jesus,
Mary walked with Christ in life,
from the cross, to heaven above…

The Mother of God – v2

Her name is invoked in the fire’s shadow,
praying with the virgin, with our Mother,
in power to steady trembling hands,
a shield of protection we carry with us,
she stands eternally with the wounded
holding fast the grieving, the broken,
Mary, the Mother of God…
 
Remembered for that moment
of hope, of joy, of submission,
changing time forever, conception,
her vessel, Mary, the handmaiden,
a willing child, God’s servant,
in her name we find strength,
Mary, the Mother of God…
 
Called by the angel, she answered—
her courage cradled eternity, the infinite,
her faith opened the path of salvation,
overshadowed, yet steadfast, faithful,
she bore the weight of the world’s hope,
her baby, our Savior, the Christ,
Mary, the Mother of God…
 
Each moment she is beside us, watching,
with Christ, the Spirit, the eternity of God,
our Mother, Mary, the virgin who suffered,
for she knows our journey, our struggle,
with us in the trenches, in the battles,
in the crucible of history, this moment,

when the Spirit overshadowed

a split in time, torn forever, vulnerable,
when infinity entered this world

the eternal made mortal,

the willing vessel, the handmaiden,
the one chosen, anointed,
consecrated by God,
the mother of our Savior,
the Babe in the manger,
the man who climbed the cross,
the One now seated on His throne…
 
His mother, His daughter,
His first love, His first disciple,
an intimacy with Mary
sharing, their hearts beating
in the womb, on the cross,
an ongoing conversation
from conception until her death
to her rising to Him in heaven…
 
His mother, His daughter,
what a mystery to ponder,
the dual nature of their lives,
the cord and the vine, feeding,
sharing, mortality, eternity, life,
what a burden, what a calling,
the handmaiden, willing vessel,
the risen Mother of God…

what must she have prayed
over the child within her
God here with us…
 
How did He answer
to give her understanding,
what promises did He whisper
as He grew in her womb
for those nine months…
 
what must she have felt
the power of each moment,
knowing that Christ was growing
that God was in her womb
her sweet baby boy…
 
How did He answer Mary,
her prayers, as He began to enter,
when His flesh was quickened
when she laid Him in the manger

Whispering to Him,

our risen Lord, Christ Jesus,

God growing within her

and praying to the Father

seated on high…

 

Wooing Christ too her,

growing, alive, in secret,

singing songs to Him,

praying for strength

for the journey to come…

 

Joseph beside her

trusting with her, faithful,

as her time came closer,

wondering too, pondering,

how His life would unfold…

 

His first two disciples,

Christ’s earthly parents,

on the journey before them,

the Christ growing, hidden,

in Mary’s sacred womb…

A mystery of life

A mystery of life
of that moment of conception
when the Spirit overshadowed
that humble servant girl…
 
A cleave point, an inflection,
a change in time forever,
infinity entered the world
in a kernel of life…
 
A mystery of life
the eternal made mortal,
the conception of Jesus,
God here in the flesh…
 
Time changed forever,
a tear in the fabric,
a radical change hidden,
within her virgin womb…

Visited by the angel
Mary accepting her anointing,
overshadowed by the Spirit,
Christ growing within her
her virgin womb…
 
Talking with him
Christ within her,
sharing her blood
her love for him
her body, her womb…
 
His first witness
aware of His presence,
knowing his completely,
the Christ growing within her
within her virgin womb…
 
Christ’s first disciple
before the conception
Mary became the servant
Singing a song of faithfulness,
of life, God here with us…

A conversation with Mary – v2

From the beginning,
the angel’s visitation,
the moment of conception
God within her, alive,
the vessel of her womb…
 
A conversation with Mary
from that moment,
God in mortal flesh
growing within her
the vessel of her womb…
 
As He grew, as she felt Him,
God moving, growing,
a love divine, human,
what must she have whispered
to Christ in her womb…
 
A conversation with Mary,
her child, her Father,
a mystery unimaginable,
the immortal, her flesh,
with Christ in her womb…
 
The intimacy of pregnancy,
this mother and child,
this life growing within her
God almighty, our Savior,
in the vessel of her womb…

His mother, His daughter

His mother, His daughter,
the willing vessel, the handmaiden,
the one chosen, anointed,
consecrated by God,
the mother of our Savior,
the Babe in the manger,
the man who climbed the cross,
the One now seated in heaven…
 
His mother, His daughter,
His first love, His disciple,
an intimacy with Mary
sharing hearts beating
in the womb, on the cross,
an ongoing conversation
from conception until her death
to her rising to him in heaven…

Whispering to Him

Whispering to Him
God growing within her
praying to the Father
seated on high…
 
Wooing Christ too her,
singing songs to Him,
praying for strength
for the journey to come…
 
Joseph beside her
as her time came closer,
wondering too, pondering,
how His life would unfold…
 
His first two disciples
on the journey before them,
the Christ growing, hidden,
in Mary’s sacred womb…
