something not right

something not right
something off-putting
something deviant
in their behavior

alarm bells sounding
within my mind;
secrets unspoken
too boisterous laughter

wanting me to leave
our running outside
outside of earshot
of someone watching (aware)

something not right
a feeling repeating;
a concern unspoken
beyond my grasp

I sense the Salmon

In the rushing water
standing on the precipice
at the crest of the falls
perched on the sunken rocks
the water raging all around

The lone hunter waiting
for the prey to come
sensing the salmon
before they leap
waiting for their dinner
coming on the wind

Eyes of the Predator

Covered in snow
the head of the fox
still in the shower
gathering the snow

Its eyes transfixed
focused on one spot
the prey too close
it was ready to pounce
