God’s love is greater

staring at the cracks in the mirror
Harm my sins have created
concentric circles, the ripples,
spreading outward, injuring
myself and my loved ones,
even strangers I will never meet
The Butterfly Effect is expanding,
making fossil footprints in time…
 
if my sin has left footprints
widening circles, a legacy,
God’s love is greater
restoring each of us fully
bearing our cross, our shame,
Every ripple our sins birthed
from Creation to this now,
Every sin of mankind upon the cross…

They led me to my destruction

My sin, the chains, the yoke,
the shame that I carry
They led me to my destruction
to separation from God and man…
 
No matter the sins against me
the deep hurt within me
Even my false resentment
my anger against our God…
 
All within me is broken,
save for God’s Spirit within me,
My pain, my selfishness
have led me to destruction…
 
Only in giving up control
my autonomy, my agency to You,
I can only be healed
If I submit my life to You…

I am responsible for my responses

I am not guilty for the harms
any sin committed against me,
I am not the source of my abuse
what was done against me….
 
But I must own my sin,
my actions that led me astray,
all of my choices in the flesh
every time I walked away
rebelling against God…
 
I am responsible for my response
for every sin I have committed
every harm where I am complicit,
no ones fault but my own,
no excuses, no lies, transparent,
naked as I am before God…

I have been selfish

I have been on guard
I have put on a mask
I have been hurt deeply,
and I have hurt others
I have been selfish in my life…
 
I have had much taken from me
my sense of self, of joy,
I have yanked them back to me
sometimes violently, reflexive,
I have hurt those I love…
 
I have been selfish
I have lived in the flesh
taken what was not mine
to love, to cherish,
I have sent cracks in time…

They took away my power, my agency – v2

harms committed against me, sin,
directly or indirectly changing my path
my course, every choice of my life
outside my control or giving up control,
whatever might be the case,
they took away my power,
my autonomy, my agency,
I have fought to take it back…
 
in my struggles, in my pain,
in my deep sense of loss, anguish,
even when I feared to follow
Your calling for my life
I have chosen poorly,
I have hurt those I love,
I have acted inappropriately
selfishly, in the flesh, of the body,
to regain an allusion of control…
 
when they took away my power
my autonomy, my sense of self,
I was left out of control, buffeted,
limited by my fears, out of my depth,
unmoored from You, Lord,
a feather in the wind, blown,
wanting so much more
wanting to truly live…

not giving God first position
letting other things get in the way
not loving God with my whole heart

convicted now in my spirit
God’s Spirit speaking to me

when God offers Himself to me…
 
I feel the tension within me
as I am on this journey
the pull of the moment
false idols I am building…
 
needing to reject these masters
to give God the first position
turning my whole life over
to our loving God…

I freely admit I must repent
for God to heal me completely…

The #Lord is my #Shepherd #Psalm23

I proclaim this blessing,
The provision of the One true God,
I have nothing to fear,
For the Lord is my Shepherd,
I have all that I need…
 
The Lord gifts me paradise,
The earth and all its wonders,
Life by the still waters,
Walking right beside me,
Peace within my storms…
 
Even though there is darkness,
The devil and his minions stalking,
Though death waits for us in this life,
I am secure under Your protection,
Within the safety of Your wings…
 
You prepare a wedding feast,
A heavenly banquet, life,
In all its abundance for me,
Mocking my attackers, Satan,
All who would do me harm…
 
Oh, how You bless me, how You wash me,
Clean with Christ’s blood, with oil,
Soothing my troubled spirit, mercy,
Grace more than I deserve,
Your unmerited favor, oh Lord…
 
Your Mercy, Your Goodness,
Walk with me, stalk me,
Strive after me in this life,
Wooing me back to You, oh Lord,
Back to my home, this prodigal,
