#Red #parents, #Blue #teachers

Red parents, angry,
blue teachers exhausted
no middle ground
a reflection of the nation
Red states, blue states,
unable to have a conversation
separate languages, a divide.
 
Untied more than united,
a cleavage, a coarseness
to our dialogue,
to the existent
one exists at all
A red and blue nation
no comity, no community.

shouting to be heard – v2

all they have ever known

for too much of their lives

how sad this is the truth

their frame of reference

shouting to be heard

to be given respect

offering another way

showing kindness

thrown back in my face

as if it was weakness

not understanding

I didn’t want to shout

to show them kindness

caring not screaming

repaid with rebellion

a lack of respect
