Dwelling with Christ in heaven
As I walk here on earth...

Following my Savior,
I am alive with Christ...
He redeemed me from death...

a knowing sorrow in that moment
seeing so clearly his pain
the grief of expectation
heartbreak of relief
after years of bitter anguish
a healing of the breach...
 
a truth in revelation,
knowing the pain of those years
written in the eyes of Hosea
so stark, so plain the epiphany
the sorrow of that moment,
remembered to this day...

Eyes of Emmaus
of the disciples changing
knitting what Christ had said
An epiphany at their dinner table -
Their hearts ablaze in love
in the gift of revelation
on the road home...

as we become

more like Jesus

we become a servant

stripped of the world

any trappings of power,

of our position, station

putting on rags

we have joy in our position

joy in wearing rags

in becoming like Jesus

falling to our knees

anointing them with oil

washing their feet

the plates of the banquet

taking off power, prestige

any marks of station

putting on rags

of a slave, a servant

living as Jesus did

living a life, joyfully,

that is more in serving

only by God’s grace,

we are redeemed from damnation

the wages of sin, our state of rebellion;

only by God’s grace

are we gifted a reward in heaven

a place in the kingdom

at the end of this path.

only by God’s grace,

we receive the gift of salvation

the fruit of the choice of Jesus

when He climbed the rugged cross;

only by God’s grace

are we gifted a place in heaven

at the end of our walk.
