Words call me – v2

Words call me, urgent,
I am their servant,
I turn toward them,
leaning into the message,
their cry to my spirit,
to my hands beginning to write…
 
Words speak to me
they are my muse,
words call me, now,
when I am not ready,
when I pay attention,
driving, walking about…
 
Words call me, suddenly,
they woo, they challenge me,
they cry out in despair,
sometimes they shout for joy,
urgent, passionate, emotive words,
words of power, of light…
 
Words will not wait,
I must stop, I must write,
I must remember, to save them,
for the words can be fleeting,
gossamer pulled from the ether,
to be capture, to be written down…

Words speak to me

A gift to another’s heart – v2

Our creations, art in its own sense,
All our artistic endeavors, our spirits,
all that we pour into our works,
a life force, awakening, rising,
offered, sent out into the world…
 
A gift from our heart, our spirits,
a kernel of life, of creation itself,
sent to land on an unknown shore,
a gift from one heart to another,
to heal, to give hope, to restore…
 
All that we pour out, an offering,
a piece of infinite space, of life,
treasure planted into the ether,
in time finding their true home,
on some distant shore…

offering love to others,
not knowing who needs to hear,
that which they have been given…

Out in the world,
in our work, in our living,
witnessing now, to them,
to all those we meet…
 
While making our tents,
preaching the Word,
sharing the love of Jesus,
until all have heard…
 
Starting with our neighbors
then out into the world,
in our work, our lives,
our living, day to day…
 
Faithful, committed,
to our Master’s teaching,
common people sharing,
God’s love for all of us…
 
Witnessing fully,
in our work, our living,
sharing eternity,
with all we do…
 
While making our tents,
preaching the Word,
sharing the love of Jesus,
until all have heard…

An affirmation, in the way of Mary Oliver…
You don’t have to be Perfect,
You must just be honest, truthful,
You can hope, you can dream,
Aspiring for the golden ring, living,
Loving as you are, able, happy,
 
Loving yourself in the first instance,
Believing that you are here for a reason,
That you are enough, perfect as you are.
Believe, have faith in yourself, in your worth,
That you have a calling, a purpose, value,
A reason for walking on this earth.
 
Life can move so quickly, overwhelming,
Our experiences, our memories not always fleeting,
Finding ourselves out in the open, in the wild,
Seeking our place in nature, in conversation,
With plant elders, the water, the fields, the forests,
In the moving of the eternal, celestial tides…

You don’t have to be Perfect

An affirmation, in the way of Mary…
You don’t have to be perfect,
You just have to be honest, truthful,
You can hope, you can dream,
Aspiring for the golden ring, living,
Loving as you are able, happy,

Writing in cursive – v8

Telephone lines, power lines
straight lines, dotted lines, staccato,
the spaces in between them,
Creating writing templates
a second-grade worksheet
of yellow lined paper
Hung on the clear blue sky...
 
A seagull appearing, dancing,
soaring, climbing beside me driving,
rising, falling, tracing, drawing,
Writing in cursive, longhand script,
Flying between the curved lines
words forming, some in upper-case,
some in lower-case letters...
 
The flick of its wings, its feathers
Carving a line, flared, elongated,
like a quill pen writing, in even strokes,
words, a masterpiece, elegant,
Drawing Japanese characters
rising through the divided lines
Climbing, soaring, ever higher, higher.

Writing in cursive – v7

Telephone lines, power lines
