In a passionate embrace
strands of golden threads
braided together
the lovers entwined
married in the fabric
the sinew of the tree
together dying
as they limb and cut
their precious tree

The Dancers Entwined
Slow dancing together
fused as one
living in the heartwood
until the song is done
Arms to the heavens
bodies entwined
the dancers swinging
in rhythm and time

Like Strands of Silver
Like arms of gray
like strands of silver
braided, and twisting
rising from the ground
The bodies of the supple dancers
their lithe torsos, arms
entwined in the melody
frozen for eternity
In the fabric
the flesh
of the trunk,
the branches,
some cut off
amputated
Yet trembling
before the woodman’s ax
change coming
the lovers to be cut down
soon, too soon
in the name of progress
