the sting of a repeated lie

the poison destroying
changing my brain, my truth,
what I believed in my life…
the sting of a repeated lie
settled deep in my heart
separating me from God…
 
I believed the lie of Satan,
my mortal flesh caught in a trap,
lost for decades, all alone…
I believed that God had left me
that He didn’t protect me
when I needed Him most…
 
I needed His touch, the Potter,
assurance of His presence
when I couldn’t see Him…
but I was pushing Him away
taking control of my steps,
walking far from God’s path…
 
the sting of a repeated lie
has left thick scar tissues…
I need God’s light, His love,
to unpack the darkness
to soften my flesh, my spirit,
being transparent in my sin…
 
I now feel Him with me,
indwelling within me, alive,
I hear the Spirit’s still small voice…
I am speaking the darkness, the lies,
to sap them of their power,
how I long to walk with God…

I spoke the darkness

Peeling back my hidden secrets
being transparent about my life
the unspoken pain I have carried
that I tried to hide from God…
 
I spoke the Darkness, my pain,
to wick it of its power,
I give it willingly to others
because I know I am not alone…
 
I don’t want to be chained any longer
I know that I have eternal life
God saved me for a purpose
He does not want me stuck in pain…
 
I am sharing as I am called to
I know others are hurting too
I pray they too will speak their darkness
to wick it of power over their lives…
 
Peeling back each hidden secret

brought into the Light of God…

My chains fell off

decades of pain carried
stones, chains on my spirit
for hurt, shame, loss,
I was not meant to carry…
 
scales fell from my eyes
washed in blinding light
Your Spirit spoke within me
healing my aching heart…
 
words that I have spoken
a curse over my life
that I was irredeemably “broken”
when God called me “a gift”…
 
my chains fell off
my dungeon filled with light
I am redeemed in love by God
in the sacrifice of Christ…
 
words of the flesh
the lies of the Devil
cannot separate me
from my risen Lord and King…
 
thank You God, Father,
for running out to greet me
lead me in the paths,
the way You have written for me…
 
Heal what remains broken,
in my will, my heart, my spirit,
Finish the work You have started
through the rest of my life…

Broken – v2

I have so often called myself broken,
shattered, in so many pieces,
I have defined myself as unrepairable,
lost in my sin, my rebellion, unworthy,
but that is not a name, a word,
God has spoken over my life…
 
In the silence of meditation, in prayer,
in the stillness, the shadows,
I felt Jesus telling me, whispering,
that name I have spoken
the word “broken” was a lie,
that I must change my thinking…
 
The Spirit broke through the silence,
in my spirit with my eyes closed,
gifting me a message, a prayer,
the word Jesus imparted over me,
was that I am “a gift”, a blessing,
to be poured on the earth…
 
I must remember this moment,
a truth, a revelation to cherish,
the words of release rising,
filling me, reminding me,
I need to see myself, my life,
from the perspective of God…
 
I have meaning, a purpose,
a calling for the kingdom,
a way to serve man and God,
if I am willing, if I believe…
I must strive to be that vessel,
to be filled, to be poured…

Broken

I have called myself broken,

God grants us peace

peace from our fears

releasing us from bondage

our chains cut loose

standing in God’s freedom

God grants us peace

with the storms, the struggles

peace from our fear

the things that hold us.

Measurable Miracles

More than a magic trick
needed by the leader
trying to be faithful
needing a sign from God

Measurable miracles,
the fleece wet, then dry
God playing along
answering his call

Proving with signs
that his cause would be just
a victory for the Lord
sound the trumpet, let’s go

Discernment by Dew

In the preparation for battle
going before the Lord
asking for signs
of the calling of God

Discernment by dew
water where there should not
and then the opposite
dry where there should be wet

The mighty Gideon
on the threshing floor
the blast of his trumpet
marked by tiny dewdrops
the fleece wet or dry
by the hand of God

The Fleece Upon the Floor

Faithful, yet needing assurance
putting God to the test
asking for proof of his guidance
before leading the people
going to war

The fleece on the floor
only it to be wet
when the Lord provided
needing the opposite as well

Only with multiple pleas
proofs of God’s providing
only then did he go
and lead the people to victory
just as he had been called
