I submit my body,

my will, my desires

I am mired in my clay

not knowing where to turn

caught in the whipsaw

tossed this way and that

burdened by passions,

by fears and doubts

I am consumed by my past

my earthly body, my flesh

my passions, my trials

I am not at peace

I have found no rest

Take control, oh Lord

of my fears, my passions

Give me peace, dear God

I long to serve you

bring me from the brink

the excess of my body

reign me in Lord

conform me to your path

I have failed to trust you,

to turn my fears, my failures,

my struggles over to you.

I have held them, hoarding them,

but addressing them.

Release me from these

familiar chains.

Help me shed them

once and for all.

acting in love

nothing we can do ourselves

to walk as our Savior

empty bags only

Let Christ live within you

let Christ dwell in you richly,

informing every action

every step that you take

Live as He lived

the Spirit guiding your feet,

let Christ transform you

brand new, complete

A light to the world

a message of freedom,

God is new each morning

a light every season

God’s presence within

filling your vessel,

Christ is a light to be shared

water to be poured
