scales from my eyes
Redeem me, Lord,
Give me sight...
 
Show me the truth
in ancient scripture
Reveal Yourself
In the Word...
 
Heal me, Lord,
Give me vision
Enable me to see
Your grace...

a knowing sorrow in that moment
seeing so clearly his pain
the grief of expectation
heartbreak of relief
after years of bitter anguish
a healing of the breach...
 
a truth in revelation,
knowing the pain of those years
written in the eyes of Hosea
so stark, so plain the epiphany
the sorrow of that moment,
remembered to this day...

Christ’s words to them
revealing the reality of Jesus
alive after resurrection
in the opening of Your Word -
Your holy scripture -
In the breaking of the bread,
in Christ’s words of prayer...
 
Eyes of Emmaus
of the disciples changing
knitting what Christ had said
An epiphany at their dinner table -
Their hearts ablaze in love
in the gift of revelation
on the road home...

Whatever is good
in Your perfect will...
into Your hands
I place my trust
I give my life over
Into Your hands, oh, God...
 
I surrender my demands...
I confess I am broken...
I abandon my cries for justice...
into Your hands of mercy
I trust Your judgment -
Whatever You believe is right,
Only Your love, oh, God...
 
Whatever is good in Your sight,
whatever is fair in Your judgment,
I leave these to You,
Oh, Father God Alimighty,
I trust in Your only,
Your perfect will...
