Lord, I am scared
as I enter this next step
to make amends
for the sin I caused
for footprints I have left...
 
Some of my harm
goes back decades
some I have harmed
are long dead
but I must give to You the power
to walk in righteousness...
 
Lord, I Iong for freedom
to walk in Your truth
help me to be faithful
to follow Your path
in all I say and do...

The temperature has risen
Escalation in our war of words
Seeing neighbors as enemies 
To be defeated at all costs

Lord, hear the cry of my heart
deep wounds within me,
weight I have carried my whole life
seeking to avoid the pain of my sin
its damage, its consequence,
Harm I have caused others and myself…
 
Lord, give me the courage, boldness,
to be open and honest, transparent,
to face my fears, my pride,
to confess my sins
to the ones I have harmed…
 
Free me from my sin’s power,
not just one but all of them
over the course of my whole life…
Help me to walk in the truth,
clear-eyed about the damage,
the hurt that I have caused…
 
Release me of the burden I carry
Sins I have committed
against God and man…
Help me to confess…
Help me to make amends…

I carry this shame
I bear the weight
of my sins against them
of all the harm I have caused
in the course of my life…
 
There are so many
that I have hurt deeply
by never confessing that sin
I have been bound in chains
shackles of my own making…
 
I have not released them
of the pain they carry
unresolved sin I caused them
burden of the years
never asking for forgiveness
never making amends…
 
I pray this will be the moment,
my one best opportunity,
to confess my sin
harm that I have caused
to ask for forgiveness
to make amends…

She gave me her best
love that she could offer,
I claimed I got the worst…
But It Was Never Her Fault…
 
I carried so many lies
anger ruled within me
I listened to Satan’s lies
I let him consume me…
 
She became the javelin catcher
every sling and arrow
a pin cushion, a dart board,
for my unforgiving rage…
 
I hate this truth
spoken in these words I am writing
but they are the honest truth
my sin against her…
 
She did not deserve any
of the I bile I uttered
I pray she will forgive me

A forest in my eyes

Far more than a speck,
a log barring my vision,
blind in the world
a forest in my eyes
keeping me from seeing
the weight of my sin
clearly, without excuses,
knowing what I have done
against God and others
blind to the pain
I have caused so many…
 
A forest in my eyes
logs, leaves, and branches,
dirt on the roots
those that have been planted
saplings and vines
brush and thorns aplenty
sins that I carry
binding me, blinding me,
shackled in chains
of my own making,
A cataract of wood, of sin…

my sin is a weapon
I have given to Satan
A Legacy of pain
I have caused others
stones that I carry…
too heavy by far…
 
I must defeat the power
I have given to him
I must confess and repent
the harm I have caused…
I must make amends…
 
I must own what I have done
every sin I have committed
I speak them to God, to others,
to wick them of power
of shame, continuing harm…
 
I repent, I am ready to be at peace,
to confess, to make amends,
so that the harm may be lessened
so they may hear me ask for forgiveness
so I can leave sin in my past…

Lord, Help me to have courage
to not hesitate to be truthful
to see the way clearly
what I must do, truly,
to make godly amends…
 
Help me to act boldly
to reject my sin fully
the patterns of behavior,
that cost me so dearly,
Oh, help me change within…
 
Help me act with purpose
to listen to Your calling,
to defeat Satan’s power
to own what I have caused

Help me to live differently,
to reject anger, position,
to live at peace with others,
my family, my neighbors,
everyone that I meet…
 
Help me to turn, completely,
to confess, to repent fully,
to let my sin be my past,
to conform my steps to Jesus
to go where the Spirit leads…

Help me to have courage
to see the way clearly
what I must do, truly,
to make real amends…
 
Help me to act boldly
to reject my sin fully
the patterns of behavior,
Oh, help me change within…
 
Help me act with purpose
to defeat Satan’s power
to own what I have caused
to make real amends…
 
Help me to live differently,

Release me, Lord – v2

Release me, Lord,
of the sins I carry
every sin I commit
while I walk this earth…
 
Help me to have courage
to trust You completely,
to be honest about my sin
to make amends freely…
 
Help me to be faithful
to turn to You fully,
away from my sin
every harm that I cause…
 
Release me, Lord,
of the sins I carry
They are too heavy
I want them no more…
 
Help me to walk humbly
as your faithful servant,
Help me walk today
in Your healing light…

If only I could wave a magic wand,
if I had made different choices,
betrayal, the sin I caused you
still grieves my heart so deeply…
 
If I could go back in time
I pray that I will be different,
that I would show you fully
just how much I loved you…
 
If I could take away the pain,
deep hurt I caused you
I would take every nail,
every sin I put against you…
 
If God will continue to work,
on my heart, on my spirit,
I pray that you will know,
just how much I love you…

our words are daggers – v2

Our words are daggers, cudgels,          
weapons of destruction, of chaos,
spears to pierce the hearts of others,
leaving pain in their wake…
 
Weapons more powerful than sticks
and stones that the ancients raised,
that can break your bones.
Words can so easily hurt us…
 
Our words leave permanent scars,
footprints in the sands of time,
open wounds that cannot heal,
chaos we have planted within them…
 
Our words are permanent, indelible,
They can never be taken back
once they are born, spoken,
once they enter our minds…
 
Our words can raise,
We can lift up others,
They can praise and edify;
but they can tear others down…
 
We must be mindful, careful,
because every word we speak
has a legacy, eternal,
permanent across time…
