Fully God, fully human,
tempted as we are, but without sin,
before the Jordan, His baptism,
thirty years in this wilderness,
before his three years of ministry,
as an infant, as a man, a carpenter,
fully aware of His identity –
Fully God, fully man…
 
Before the Jordan, His anointing,
before the Dove descended,
before Christ’s transfiguration,
ablaze with heavenly light,
the weight of temptation,
fully human yet without sin,
Christ is now seated in heaven,
Fully God, fully man…

Hold fast to our confession,
our repentance before God,
We have a High Priest
who offers us peace…
 
Enter His throne room,
Assured of our salvation…
The sacrifice of Christ

Fully God, fully man,

Pride whispers – v2

Pride whispers in the darkness
condemning our souls to death
separating us from grace,
from the mercy of God…
 
Pride whispers, “You are better
than your sins, but you are not enough.
You are unworthy of salvation
of the sacrifice of Christ”…
 
Pride whispers damnation
But the Spirit cries, “You are Enough!
God loves you, Jesus saved you,
You are my beloved child”…
 
Pride whispers the lies of Satan
words to separate, to drive a wedge,
But Christ paid our debt.
We have eternal life…

Pride whispers

pride whispers in the darkness

whether real or imagined

baggage we carry

an ache deep in my body

not sensing God

the divine absence

not feeling God’s presence

a malaise, a sickness

an ache in my soul

needing him with me

for me to feel whole

yearning to sense Him

God’s Spirit within

in spite of my pain, my anguish,

my sense that God is not near me

that God doesn’t answer my cries

that I find no peace within me;

Yet I am not silenced

by the darkness, this life

for I know deep within me

that God is by my side
