Pride is illusory, a lie,
a delusion, a weapon,
We believe we are strong
on our own, in ourselves,
a lie, a means to separate us,
from ourselves, from God…
 
We think we are in control,
That power is ours, innately,
that our strength is within us,
but we deny God’s presence,
His omnipotence, His power,
His hands upon our lives…
 
Every good gift comes from God,
Each of our gifts, our talents,
We stand on His grace,
the sacrifice of Jesus,
His presence here with us,
His hands on our lives…
 
We believe the lies,
The deceptions of Satan,
that we are self-made men,
This mantra, this false strength
separates us from one another,
from ourselves, from God…

from the beginning,
there in the garden,
shifting blame, denying,
that we are guilty,
the ones who have failed…
 
natural liars, at our core,
not wanting judgment
responsibility for our actions
seeking to deflect, to avoid,
the truth right before us…
 
in our walk, in our daily living,
little lies, big lies, deception,
blame shifting, constant,
not owning our mistakes,
obfuscating, denying,
that we are at fault…

You forgave my iniquity,
Every sin I ever committed…
I fall in confession, in sackcloth,
at Your altar, Your throne…

I am shattered, I am broken,
But I confess to You freely…
I have nothing to hide from You, Lord,
Eternal God, Most High…

You reached down from heaven,
You plucked me from my pit…
You forgave me completely,
You gave me new life…

I am humbled; I am Your servant,
Another Prodigal who came home…
I bow down before You in worship,
In You I am restored…

look within your heart,
find God already waiting,
open your heart to God’s healing,
the balm of Jesus Christ…
Confess freely, openly,
hold nothing back…

be raw, transparent, honest,
for God knows everything already,
open the unhealed wounds you carry,
lay bare your soul, your living walk…
You have been forgiven already
When you accepted Jesus Christ…

God has redeemed you,
You are no longer dead,
You have a home in heaven,
You have been raised with Christ…
The Spirit is now indwelling
guiding your beating heart…

confess freely to the One who can heal you,
live your life for Christ, for others,
out of the grace you have been given,
be a light in this broken world…
God has raised you from the dead
through the finished work of Jesus…

The #Stench of Our #Prisons #sin #Ephesians4

An odor of repeated memory,
the ancient, the familiar,
of old habits, of comfort,
which we know so well…
We are the Jews in the desert,
crying to return to Egypt…

Wooed back from freedom,
into the prisons we have created,
the door that was opened,
from our new life in Christ Jesus…
Walking in the heavenly light
away from the glowering darkness…

The stench of our empty jail cell calls us,
We can conjure every inch of its domain,
the same colors, the same dimension,
familiar, our prisons, this utter darkness…
Falling into our well-worn ruts
in the way of our flesh…

We came out of our cells,
Freed from our burdens, our chains,
through a door Christ opened
into His glorious light…
But we are drawn to our idols -
We return to our comfort, our chains…

We must shake off the shackles,
the chains of the familiar,
everything that holds us captive…
We must turn our backs on our prison…
We must boldly follow Jesus…
We must walk in His light…

I wish none harm – v2

I know my sin,
My sin is ever before me,
my need for forgiveness,
for what I have done, my sin,
to hurt others and God…
 
I seek forgiveness,
I confess my transgressions,
to be washed in Christ’s blood
for I am broken and sinful
caught in my flesh…
 
I wish none harm,
No one through my history,
for sin committed against me,
I pray they would be forgiven
as God forgives me…
 
We each are broken, fallen,
We are mortal, children of Adam,
trapped in our flesh, our sin,
I release my anger, judgment,
unto Almighty God…

Forgive them, Lord

Forgive them, Lord,
Heal them, fully,
Bring them back to You,

to Your saving grace in Christ…
 
I do not want wrath for them,
for anyone on earth…
 
Forgive everyone who has harmed me
I give each one of them to You,
Forgive them with the same mercy
You have poured out on me…
 
I do not want wrath for them,
for anyone on earth…
 
Forgive them, Lord,
Release them, fully,
from Your righteous judgment
through the finished work of Christ…
 
I do not want wrath for them,
for anyone on earth…

We must #forgive

to enjoy the fruit of peace
to walk in the Kingdom
we must forgive fully
as Christ has forgiven us…
 
We must let go of anger,
We must repent, confess,
We must release our fingers
our hands around their necks…
 
our life in abundance
within the arms of Christ
is truly possible only
if we forgive like Jesus did…
 
We must forgive them fully
leaving judgment to God
We must walk humbly, righteous,
with our neighbors and our God…
 
only in forgiving fully,
will heaven fill our hearts
the bitterness of the flesh
our hope in Jesus Christ…
 
We must leave our anger,
our resentments in the dust,
We must walk humbly,
with our neighbors and our God…

I forgive You, oh God

As with Christ’s baptism,
a step unnecessary, truly,
for You are eternal, righteous…
You are Holy in Yourself…
Love, alive…
 
But I pray these words
from within my spirit,
words of pain, of anger,
of unrighteous condemnation,
Feeling You were not there…
 
Please forgive me, Lord,
for my last of faith, of trust…
In that spirit, hear these words,
“I forgive You, oh God, Father,
for the harm I claimed You caused me…”
 
I release every lie of Satan,
every part of my heart he holds,
for I know You never left me,
(my own sin is ever before me),
Thank You for loving me…
Oh how I love You, Lord…
