Pursue your calling - v2

Pursue your calling - v2

Pursue your calling

the path God has written;

Cleave to the way

to God’s plan for your life.

Stand in the gap

beside our risen Lord Jesus;

Go as you are called

do not hesitate for a minute.

Pursue your calling

be bold, courageous;

Know you are loved

the Spirit guides your steps.

Our Older Brother is Christ - v2

Our Older Brother is Christ - v2

Thank God for this truth

this reality, this blessing;

our older brother is nothing like

the older brother in the story;

He is happy when we come home.

Our older brother is Christ,

the babe in the manger,

the man who climbed the cross;

He prepares the way

that we may come home.

Christ is joyful, overjoyed

when we come home to the Father;

He gathers with our Father;

He prays for our returning;

Christ greets us on the road.

#God must #weep - v3

God must weep - v3

God must weep

in these days, this moment;

God must agonize

for such great loss of life.

God must weep

so much more than Jesus

so many more than one friend

sent to their untimely grave.

God must weep

for the raging pandemic

for so many lives lost,

here, all around the globe.

God must weep

for the failures, the arrogance,

for so many lives lost,

in the name of free will.

God must weep

but hope is yet coming

vaccines, immunity,

are rising on the wind.

God must weep

but better times are coming

when we can be together

when normal returns.

#Memories - v4

Memories – v4

Between the pain

Sitting there with her

Her memories

Of their life together

Of happy hour

At home at 4:00

Deer eyes,

Following me

Around the room.

Celebrating him

Eagle Scout and Veteran

Your strength

Your Rock and safe harbor

Marksman and Accountant

Friend and lover;

The man in your life

Here and hereafter.

easing his trauma,

his body, movement

slowing with every breath;

melting away, falling away,

under the sheet, his clothing;

ready to fly, to leave,

to vault to the heavens;

slowly letting go of life -

her hand his only possession.

She was all alone - v2

She was all alone - v2

She was all alone

there was no one beside her;

Her love, her Mr. Wonderful

was now dead and gone.

She was all alone,

but the church loved her;

They reached out

in her time of pain.

She was all alone,

but she wasn’t really;

She was loved

by the body of Christ.

God must weep - v2

God must weep

in these days, this moment;

God must agonize

for such loss of life.

God must weep

so much more than Jesus

so many more than one friend

God must weep

for the raging pandemic

for so many lives lost

all over the globe.

God must weep

for the failures, the arrogance,

for so many lives lost,

in the name of free will.

God must weep

but hope is yet coming

vaccines, immunity

are on the wind.

God must weep

but better times are coming

A #pilgrimage to the #mountain - v2

A pilgrimage to the mountain - v2

A pilgrimage to the mountain

to the vista, the panorama

the landscape, the view

in my hometown.

Not the Hajj, something on a bucket list,

not something so foreign

a daily gift before me

calling me to come, to look.

A pilgrimage to the mountain

to the overlook, this blessing,

calling me to come, to look,

to drink it all in.

Never wanting to become complacent

to fail to see the magic in each moment

a gift of the Creator, the Maker,

the mountain, the work of God.

A pilgrimage to the mountain

in every season, each moment

calling me to come, to look

to hold onto wonder.
