God helps those
The old adage, the lie,
the truth of the powerful -
God helps those
who help themselves.
So arrogant, this lie,
the privileged, the righteous
casting their neighbors
into the mud, the dust.
The real truth different
from the well of God’s loving;
God helps those
with no chance to help themselves.
God loves the sinner,
the downtrodden, the broken;
thankful, God helps
the unrighteous, all of us.
